Very interested to know what some of you more serious health conscious minded dieters do for your daily meals. Like from breakfast all the way through your day.........And what kind of variety do you have throughout the course of a week.

If you can give some minor detail also on how you prepare your food would be greatly appreciated as well.
My proteins mostly consist of wild game when I eat meat. (mostly deer meat and usually made in the smoker!Smile )

Im trying like hell to get away from refined garbage food but its pretty hard at times to not have some pastas or breads in there.

ThanksWink

Breakfast (varies)
5 days a week I start out at 5 AM with a 30 OZ smoothie made a cheap ole blender: Coconut water, a portion of apple cider vinegar, fresh ginger, ½ apple, banana, table spoon of turmeric powder. I change up with other fresh vegies and fruit. I’m after the greens for the most part.
I then graze in the AM at work with fresh foods and two hard boiled eggs.
Weekends I have fresh vegies, seafood etc with my breakfast.
1 cup of coffee a day or less...lots of water.

Lunch
Left over’s from previous dinners and some vegies and fruit. Water and never any soda. I cannot remember when I had a soda

Dinner
This is always cooked fresh - I shop once or twice a week so everything is fresh. Very little salt and no sugars. No processed flower.
Lots of chicken and fish. Very little too no red meat. Lots of rice as the filler. I’m not a vegetarian – however some nights I cook completely vegetarian. No bread except Daves Killer Bread……real butter!
Drink water, beer and wine.

Sometimes it seem a bit boring to me also. However our health is our major asset and we get no second chance!

I’m 63, weight 155, feel great ( I do workout with a simple workout) and when I’m asked how old I am – most always get a WTF – you only look 50.

Im on about the same thing, fresh veggies in a cheap blender, coconut water, fruits, ginger, turmeric, sometimes i pit some plain yogurt in as well. And radishes. Lots of fresh green veggies for sure. Hard boiled eggs, most of the time just the whites.
Lots of water. No soda, etc. rarely have alcohol, wine or vodka when i do. Unless tap guiness is around...

Lunch is a toss up. Salad with fruits and chicken, made at home.

Dinner is fresh, stop at the grocery and farmers market daily, luckily they are both on my drive home. Chicken and fish on the grill or broiled. More veggies and water to drink. Jasmine rice instead of pastas or white rice. Otherwise its mostly fruits and veggies with some chicken or fish. Steak once a week. From the butcher shop, organic or i get sick as a dog.

You should see my little garden with herbs and spices. At work i have some peach and pear trees i pull from. I buy very little from the grocery. I grew up in Mounds Oklahoma. On a farm, we went to town once a month and that was for the paper product we couldnt make. We bartered our farm product with neighbors for beef, pork, chicken and eggs. Fresh has how i was raised. You will RARELY see me at a restaurant, unless its a high end, fresh farm to table type.

We have a pretty awesome system for good fresh food for every week. We subscribe to fresh 20, the meals usually only take 20ish minutes after prep time and is all fresh organic ingredients.

We get a list of ingredients and recipes each week and go shopping on sunday nights. It is usually a lot of veggies, and different kinds of meat and costs about 150 per week for a lot of food for two people. Each meal makes four servings so we eat it for dinner that night amd lunch the next day. We have been doing it for about six months and have lost 50 pounds between the two of us. It's smaller portions than most people eat, so you end up eating less and being hungry more, but the weight just falls right off fast and we know we're eating really healthy foods so it's good motivation.

Fresh 20 you say...

Gonna have to check that out. I hate feeling hungry. But I need to adjust my diet. My fiancé and I were just talking about it. She makes great old home cooked meals that are wicked tasty. It's so good I eat myself lethargic. And now looking back when we first started dating 7 years ago, we are a little bit more plump lol. I'm at 165 and was hanging around 145 when I met her. When I started road biking weight started to fall off just only in like 3 weeks. If I can just get my diet right....its so hard.

I have to start watching it a little because my last HRA results came back with just a slightly high cholesterol and from what Ive just now been reading is because (partly because) the WAYYYYYYYY over eating of red meat!!!! AND... the other is because it runs a little high in my family. I just love eating venison though!Unsure

But I need ideas on preparing "clean" meals.

My wife is way to good of a cook like GP said and I will over eat myself into a freekin coma if its there. So Im going to have to start taking over more on that end.

If I have to move some of my track to have a decent garden ....so be it!Pinch

Haha we have been together five years and had that same realization a while ago. We basically got together and started enjoying way too much good food and drinks and we ended up a lot chunkier than when we first met.

I get so much shit from my coworkers for what I eat, but they all order fast food all night and complain aboit feeling tired while I run circles around them on night shift without having to drink any coffee. I feel great and really think it has helped my moto endurance. I did a two hour hare scramble after losing the weight and felt great afterwards.

How much sugar do you think you eat in a day? I know red meat gets a lot of flack, and I don't have any research to back it, but I really think sugar is to blame for most health problems. Im not advocating for the caveman diet, but animals are meant to be eaten. Our body isnt meant to process all the fake things and all the sugar that most people eat in a day.

When you learn how to cook with spices you can make chicken taste delicious. Cumin is the most amazing spice in the world. It can make anything taste like taco meat.

Yeah I pretty much KNOW I still take in way to much sugar in a week! But its in just about everything!!! I know I take in way less than most though because im at least conscious of it and avoid as much garbage (packaged food) as possible.

But I want to totally reprogram all of my diet to none of that but seems nearly impossible unless you live at a grocery store or have a farmers market available year round

Id like to know what Aldon Baker lays out for a weekly meal plan for the guys he works with?
Does he make that info available?

Spinach, chard, kale, beets, carrots ........mix them ux...whatever makes up a big ass glass.

Turmeric.....google it. I bought mine on AMAZON and it came in jars. Pure Indian Foods....

Fresh ginger root..... cut a small slice from the root toss it in.

Lots of experimenting for volume and taste.

I shop for the fresh veggies and bring home extra produce department bags and making up a bag of greens for each day in advance.

Red meat..... I like red meat but only the expensive cutsWhistling .....however if I keep it out of my diet a feel much better. When I do eat it, I feel verge sluggish for a few days.

Sugar... damn when I was younger I could not get enough sugar...... now NOT!

Processed food.... Yuk... the only people that helps is the corporate purveyors of drugs and medical care.

I decided to clean up my diet a few years back, and as a bachelor who hates the kitchen it isn't easy. I started with the basics, stay away from junk food, snacks and refined (manufactured) foods. Spend time in the health food section of your grocery store. Many health nuts say that the biggest problem with an American diet is that to begin with the portions are just too large. Also force yourself to browse through the entire produce section and experiment with new things. Don't set the bar too high and you will be more likely to stick with it. Any effort to improve your diet will be a benefit and the improvements in your life and health will encourage you to continue and improve as time passes. I'm at the point now where a lapse in my regimen produces a very guilty feeling.

A good rule of thumb is to shop the perimeter of the store and do not go into the center aisles. Oh and when you pass the bakery area (which is at the perimeter) be bold and walk on bySilly

I'd rather have the guilty feeling versus the burnt ass feeling when i cheat.

Make your own spaghetti sauce with tomatoes and the italian faves, basil, garlic, oregano, thyme and a few bay leaves. Use fresh tomatoes, in a blender or cuisenart to make your paste, add a bit of water to loosen it. Then dice some for the sauce. Chopped onion, etc. BUT, use ground turkey instead of beef. Add chopped zucchini, mushroom, i use portabello, and crooked neck squash(yellow squash). Still have spaghetti for dinner, but much healthier than ragu and beef.

It isnt that bad once you get used to preparing your own food.

Yea sugar is pretty much the cause of all evil. I know there is a lot more to it than sugar, but my mom has been battling breast cancer and her tumor didn't start responding to chemo until she cut out all sugar. She tried to talk to the doctors about diet recommendations and they looked at her like she was crazy. I have read stuff about tumors loving sugar, but of course there isn't a whole lot of info about it.

I used to think it was a huge conspiracy to keep people unhealthy, but then I realized that most people don't know anything about their bodies and don't care either way.

There are a lot of good documentaries about all the horrible things we eat that are on Netflix. One that I remember was called "Fed up."

In general we eat very little red meat anymore. Lots of veggies. When we eat meat, probably 80% fish 15% chicken, and then beef once in a while. When we eat beef we look for "grass fed" beef. turns out the composition is different and it's not bad for you. Same with eggs. We buy most of our supplies from a store that prohibits products that are not organic or cannot be labeled nonGMO. I still eat too much but it's better than eating too much crap. Funny thing is, when I eat crap food now I actually feel not so good after and even the day after. Like maybe eating an ordered pizza. In general we usually make our own pizza. If any of you do the blender stuff, I highly recommend getting a "Vita Mixer". Yes they are like $400 at costco but well worth it. Ours was like 8 years old and had a problem, sent it in and they sent us back a new one. These things pulverize everything. When we make smoothies, I hate getting the seeds stuck in the corner where 2 teeth meet the gum line. This machine demolishes the seeds and no more problem.
when we prepare meat it's almost always done on the grill outside. More healthy, tastes better, and less mess.

Mmmm, chilli... Eat a real chilli made by a mexican lady when I lived in Phoenix, AZ. Her husband was my co-worker so he brought some for lunch. Real good. I`ve been thinking of making a pan like that for month now. Thanks, this was my final push. I don`t get it much lately since I got divorced. My ex made a real good chilli.

When choosing to eat healthy all you have to fo is read labels and understand that Preservatives, saturated fats, transfats and sodium are bad for you. I eat healthy, I could lay out my whole menu if you want because 6 days a week its the same.

The biggedt thing is to buy fresh, never frozen when it comes to meats. Never buy packaged lunch meat, have what you want sliced fresh at the deli isle. Always try to buy fresh fruits and Vegetables, stay away from frozen. I keep canned in the house for convienance, but not frozen. For snacks I don't eat junk, my wife makes home made granolla bars and a vegetable try once a week and I snack on those.

Its simple, just do a little home work and don't buy into the whole organic trend. I buy farm eggs fron a friend and I buy vegetables from the farmers market when I can.

I never thought I'd say it, but I got sooooo excited when I got a crockpot for Christmas last year... I've never loved an appliance so much in my life. Usually just prep some meat (usually chicken) the night before, get all my veggies and extras ready to go, then chuck everything together before work in the morning and you've got a hot meal waiting for you when you get out of work! You can cook anything in that darn thing.

Ive heard a few now talk about the limiting the red meat.....I feel like the red meat cut back is going to be nearly impossible!Sad Hell I think giving up ALL sugar will be easier than that!
It's all "high speed beef" and grass and acorn fed. Should be ok right!?Grinning

Frozen meats especially fish and Poultry are usually either Processed or high in preservatives neither are a bit healthy.

Frozen vegetables are not bad for you, but they aren't as healthy as fresh.

I load up my freezer at least once a year with wild salmon, rock cod and halibut. Doesn't get much cleaner.
