I've purchased near 200 items on ebay using my paypal. some near $500.

Now I can't get anything, they're saying I need to update my account by giving them bank information. I called and the gentleman with the heavy arab accent (no it wasn't Peggy). Said I need to update my profile by sending my bank account info, all I've ever had before was just my debit card, billing address, and e-mail.

Anybody else have to do this yet, not really wanting to give them my bank info since it's our household account.

I think you've been hijacked.

Paypal doesn't answer phones.

I just used PayPal last night, and it went through with no drama.

You're getting scammed.

No I talked to a paypal rep said something about a new policy $500 sending limit was started at the start of this new policy. I've now sent the $500 and they want me to put money in the account by tying it into my bank account.

Just go to paypal's site and click on your profile tab and then update account information, they'll direct you to put in your account information.

I'm not doing it using our household account, I'm opening a new account with a little mad money for this and transfer as needed.

The reason mine asked was because I had a CC tied to that account that expired. I only use the service maybe 6 times in a year. I forgot and ignored the email that they sent to me about the account and when I tried to use it they had limited the access to it. The only way they would reinstate my account was to be by a landline and verify my information. That is not an option due to my job I do not have access to one for another 18 days till I get home.

I just said piss on that account and opened up another one under a different email address and got my purchase that way but I still will not give them my bank info.

Guys you go onto paypals "secure site" and get this information, it's not a scam. My card didn't expire but I do have a gmail account maybe I'll try that (without sending bank information).

We've had our bank account tied with paypal for years, not one problem.

Btw, they've always had those limits. The more info you give them, the bigger spending limit you get. and not sure if you know it, but I think if you wait until next month, you can buy stuff again, up until that $500 limit.

Never access your PP or eBay account threw an email link. Open a new tab and go to paypal.com

Sounds like your CC expired.

Really...then how do you send money from your paypal account directly to your bank account? IF you go to paypal.com and update/ add your bank account info you will be fine. If someone sent you an e-mail saying something about it dont follow that link. You may have to update your bank info, as long as you go directly to paypal.com you will be fine.

If I remember correctly I got shut down after $2500.00 of total transactions when they said I had to tie to a bank account. No problems ever with any account issues but I never go to Paypal through any e-mail links.

That's exactly what I'm saying, they never ask in emails,or tell you to call a number, I used mine last night and it was fine,go onto their secure site to sort any problems,I've used eBay and Paypal since 2003 and always resolved things ok with them

As of right now I've been using paypal with my debit card tied to my household account (don't have any other accounts). Have a friend who used to sell a lot on ebay and had paypal pull over $1000.00 out of his account due to an overseas customer saying he never got the item. I can't afford to have my account cleaned out while waiting for a situation like this to resolve itself.

So far I've purchased 2 things by calling the person (business)and giving them my debit card directly. A couple more hurdles in the way may not be a bad thing, it'll slow down my spending on this bottomless pit of supermini racing!!

Um, yeah, kinda hard to throw the Patriot Act at Bush with Obama hasn't eliminated it or made any effort to do so, making him just as complicit.

If you have an issue regarding the Patriot Act, be fair and blame both/all, and not single out one

My wife does a lot of large transactions online and uses paypal, she buys and trades in antique mexican silver jewelry (she's become quite the expert)

Wanna see some cool shit?

That's not even "the good stuff," that's only the stuff she's willing to sell.
She scours the interweb searching for bits and pieces that people have no idea of what they have, and snaps it up.
She also buys and trades with other dealers.

Was Bush a king or did he need help getting it passed. Same with Obama and people blaming him for the healthcare deal. They can't do it alone.

I asked wife, she uses her bank account, not a CC

But she did say this, she believes PayPal has always required a secondary form of payment in case one form has insufficient funds, essentially a back up to keep from getting screwed.

I have mine linked to a CC and bank account and no problems.

I just got $61.47 from some law suit won against Ebay for final valuation fees. I don't sell much stuff at all.
