I actually watched that show last night.
Without going into great detail I will give my opinion. I thought it was a show about a large group of people feeling sorry for themselves.
Sorry P, I know that's not what you were looking for, but that's what I got from the show.
50% of the people in the US with AIDS (or HIV) are black. Ahem, who's fault is that? Nobody but the 50% of the Americans with AIDS that are black...
I think the "blacks in America" need to take more responsibility for their actions and stop looking for an excuse for everything. Obviously I am not black...but this is what I see.

I got something different from it and to be honest with you I figured that you would look at it like that, but that's your viewpoint
Either way, hopefully you will watch the rest of the documentary.

What I think of when I hear the sentence "What it means to be Black in America" I wonder just what its like everyday for a black man who walks down a street in a neighborhood that isnt predominantly Black, and almost everyone that walks or drives by takes a double take. Whats that like? I think I may know. I have a shaved head and when I walk up to an ATM machine outside a bank its not uncommon for women to not get out of their cars until I start to leave. Im a White guy but I guess the situation still warrants "caution" from them. It doesnt feel good however to be the reason for their caution when you know that youre not a threat.

Our country is nearing 250 years old. We crawled, got up, fell down. Time to start looking forward. Don't forget the past, but don't mandate it create choices for us we make in the future.
That said this is true for all. We can expect those that feel left out to accept it unless we do it together. Poor and lower class are the majority of the United States. We join together we can be very powerful. Separate we suck as a country.

Let me ask you a serious quesion...what do YOU think that Tiki and I should have gotten from it? Other than one group wanting to be divided from the rest?
I grew up next to camp pendleton..marine base in oceanside..we had every color of the rainbow at our school..I have always been in a mixed crowd...I still work with every color of the rainbow..no problems

Your point about 50% of the HIV/AIDS cases..........where did you get that anyone, other than the people that have the virus, were being blaimed? The point was that many in the black community aren't taking the steps for prevention and aren't getting educated on preventiion.
Just the fact that most black people aren't poor and welching off the system should have been a point that stuck out to you Huck. Did the family that owns the construction company not make you realize that black Americans aren't what you seem to believe we are? It's a new day in America.
With that said, on the flip side the segment about the bi-racial kids brought light to the fact that racism is still very real in this country.
WHATEVER YOU DO please don't look at this documentary as an "excuse." It is what it is, a view into the black community.
The thing that gets me is that you guys seem to feel as though we all have to be alike to join together as a country, and i don't believe that. I don't have to dress like dudes in Cali in order to go to a motocross race and be considered a moto head.
Maybe you will get my point, but maybe you won't.
Either way LIKE I SAID BEFORE part 2 is tonight and I hope you tune in.
