Cci is always good too. Its just more pricy like top shelf but performs that way too. For buget .22 that cycles good federal is good for me.

I was getting ready to start a post on this, but since everybody is here already: What's a good, lightweight, relatively inexpensive shotgun I can purchase in the Sacramento area?
I'm doing some traveling around CA in my RV with my little daughter these days, maybe with a bike in plain view, and would like something for self-defense (at home too). I don't like the idea of being out in the wild with nothing but a fire extinguisher for defense. I went to rifle camp as a kid so I can handle a gun, but I don't really have a ton of experience with guns in the past 20 years or so.

I would also recommend and 870. About as reliable as a hammer, powerful enough for anything with the right loads. Available in different configurations, tons of aftermarket support and highly customizable to suit your needs/taste. For a pump scattergun they are hard to beat.

Mossberg 590 over the Remington.
Aluminum receiver so it's a bit lighter, easier to use slide release, dual extractor for reliability, and they're slightly easier to load with the shell gate always being up.

Quality wise, only the Mossberg 590 has passed the military's mil-spec 3443 test for reliability, and while the old Remington's were excellent, since they were taken over by Freedom Group, their QC seems to have taken an hit.

Load up 6 rounds of 00 buck and you're ready to go, though practicing with light load birdshot will be appreciated by your shoulder.

Nothing wrong with a 20ga or even a 410. A 12ga is a pretty big jolt for inexperienced shooters. Serbu made a shorty shotgun and Federal makes 1 3/4 compact shells that are pretty available and opsol makes inserts for pretty cheap. Sorry I don’t know CA laws but I’d recommend a small cal revolver for what you’re describing you want to do. Whatever you get, practice shooting it until it becomes almost boring. You don’t need a 12ga blast to surprise you in a panic situation if one arises.

My wifes go to home defense gun is her stevens 20 gauge pump shotgun. Got it on sale at walmart for 98 bucks. It has some "muddy girl" pink camo on it but who gives a shit. Cut down to the legal barrel length, good luck with that mean bitch on the trigger. Laughing

Alright alright alright. Going to be in the 100s today, got up early to try this Thompson Center TCR 22 out.




Came with a mid grade red/green dot, effective range for accuracy is about 50 yards, last photo was 10 shots to zero.

All in all this little thing is bad ass. The Magpul stock is good, love the grip, just need to add a spacer in the stock to fine tune because the gun is tiny, highly recommend for youth, it's super lightweight.

Haha, yeah Jerry is one bad dude with just about any firearm. Seems like he would be a cool guy to hang out with, but going shooting with him would be like going riding with Tomac.
