But like I said that was a while ago. It would sure suck though.
Wish this board has a search feature.
This topic was my first post on here after dmxs one night.
This one should be good for a few pages.

Was done by DORNA, not Youthstream, in an effort to make a more "TV Friendly" package.
It failed across the board
It will not happen again
It was tried by Roger DeCoster at Glen Helen several years ago. You are from the area, don't you remember?
I would guess if it worked, they would have continued. Only happened once!

When Dorna did that in Europe it was an abject failure. The riders hated it and the spectators hated it.
BTW, does anyone remember the old format of THREE 30 minute motos?
get a clue...and mx nats will not ever go away.
Pit Row
Unless they go to a one-moto format!

There's things in the works that will prove it will NEVER happen
Give up thinking about it
It won't happen
Better TV, more TV, simple to understand racing made for TV
New fans, not old or hardcore (those mostly stay around the sport),
new bike owners,
new fresh stream of fans to the sport, at races and on TV.
The actual TV format with 2 moto doesn't sell to non-hardcore fans.
TV ratings are bad.
TV ratings for MXGP in Europe are bad too. No one watches those except the hardcore fans, like us. Youthstream pays for it so it's there. MX in Europe isn't honky-dory neither. Crowds at tracks are a small as they are in the US.
If a one-moto format, for AMA Outdoor National, with heats and qualifying and a long main, is introduced, and if this brings news people to the sport because they can easily understand and see the winner of the day (instead of going through points system, with a guy taking victory without winning a moto), if this increases TV rating and sells more bikes for the OEM and make the AMA Outdoor National financially healthy, I am not against.
Amateur MX, regional MX, can stay the same, it's the MX we love riding.
As far as the pro's, I guess I'm all for the one moto format, too.
As long as it' s followed by a second forty five minute moto shortly
thereafter.
There's a valid reason that people are raising this one moto question though -
but don't worry, we're sticking with two.
It's the silly timed-qualifying I'm dead against. I want racin', not stop-watches.
Dammit.
If waiting one day allowed them to provide better coverage I'm all for it. It costs 3 to 5 times as much to produce a live broadcast vs a delayed broadcast and the coverage because of their small budget isn't nearly as good.
