Why haven't I seen anything about the fact he was riding a less than stellar bike in previous years?
He was right on RV's heels all that time. What would have happened if he'd been on this machine?
Dungey has made it clear, the only thing that Aldon did was take the worry out of having to plan the training himself.
He's always been in killer condition. The new bike is the real change.
Or am I off base here?

But the bike is probably the biggest reason for his improvement.
That being said, I wouldn't say that he was on RVs heels. Other guys pushed RV more than Dungey. his consistently was what may have put him in a better points position. This year there is no doubt he was the best guy. Tomac wasn't the fastest guy like some people say. Dungey was.
The Shop
truth is, it's both. aldon gave RD that last notch he needed to find, not fitness so much, but mental training. The bike is unbelievable. combined, he's lethal.
the 450 mx is going to be a yawn this year. nobody is going to be at his level, i love tomac but RD has him covered the same way RV covered dungey the last couple of years. Once a competitor really puts it to you, it takes a while to work that issue out between your ears. (again, see RD v RV last couple of years)
Look at Musquin. He's a changed man as well.
