Genuine Parts Honda:
SX1 Dean Wilson and ?
SX2 Max Anstie and Wilston Todd

NILS Honda

GSM Yamaha
SX1 Thomas Ramette and Anthony Bourdon

Ken Roczen? Is supposed to be tied to a team but no announcement yet. Maybe Firepower or PMG?

Eli Tomac competing as a wildcard as Cardiff (opening round) only, aboard a Star Yamaha YZ450F.

So far, there's a total of:
20 US Riders (not counting Tomac's wildcard)
6 French Riders

5 US based teams

2 French based teams
1 Italian based team

I believe at least 13-14 riders are 30 years old or older in the series.

Round 1 in Britain round 2 in Australia round 3 announcing soon. My guess is they are trying to find a stadium here.

I started looking into going and it looks like it will cost me roughly $5000 to each round

It was supposed to be Jarkata, Indonesia for round three...but latest talk is that round might be off and looking at alternatives.

It's an extremely low chance you'll see a US round in the first year of the series.

Agreed but One can hope but Feld owns the stadium rights so it will be difficult to find a location unless it is a speedway.

Didn't want to start another thread, so I thought I'd ask here.

How do we watch this on TV? Can't find anything on their website. Sorry if this has been covered before.

Considering AMA Pro Racing is owned by Daytona Motorsports Group…I don’t think you’ll see NASCAR tracks involved in FIM World SX.

From FIM press release:

'' In total, more than USD$50 million has been designated specifically for team and rider support over the first
five (5) years of the FIM World Supercross Championship, ensuring a well-capitalized effort focused on
uniting all constituents in pursuit of a global championship and culminating in the crowning of a single,
sanctioned world champion.''

One of those guys is going to be crowned world champion and their name immortalized in the halls of the FIM headquarters right next to Heath Voss.

Reading the teams and rider lineups, and who is racing 450’s and 250’s feels like a fever dream.

Me too, but it seems there’s industry people, fans and other promoters whose own insecurities are showing and are willing it to fail.

I can only assume that Roczen will be on the Honda genuine parts Honda team as weirdly enough, neither of the teams current 450 riders are named, Ferris has retired and Webster (who won the final MX1race of the year) hasn't been named. Wilson Todd raced the last 2 rounds on the 450 as he had wrapped up the MX2 title.

Would HEP's association with Twisted Tea go against Roczen's Redbull deal? I know they don't really compete in their respective markets but its a thought.

How did these guys raise $50 million for Supercross races? That's amazing.

Most likely from their experience with the Australian SX series and the V8 Supercars series.

Gotcha- well, there's nothing wrong with a well-funded new series. We have been begging for change and higher purses forever.

Just heard the 1st rnd at Cardiff being advertised on a national radio station here in the UK. That is very unusual for an mx based event in this country. Good luck to em.

This series is funded by Mubadala Capital which is an arm of the UAE sovereign wealth fund. $50 million is a drop in the bucket for that fund. Very similar to what is happening with the LIV golf tour which is money-whipping players with Saudi wealth fund money. At some point they will expect a return, though.

I don't think they're going to expect a return. The promoters sure (the Aussies), but Mubadala Capital that is mainly doing this as sportswashing? No i don't think they care about any kind of return because of like you say, 50m is a drop in the ocean for these people and some tiny, tiny losses are no big deal in the big picture.

I don't think they're going to sell too many tickets myself. On the plus side the stadium's got a fully retractable roof so no chance of it being a mudder even though the default Welsh weather is rain.

Butts in the seats and butts in front of the TV paying to view is where the funds return comes from.

Go buy a ticket. You'll see looking at the map that there are a lot of seats already sold.
