I think 2t are much more fun but when your faster on a 4t no point in racing a 2t but for me im still faster on my ol 125 2t and id rather have it be all 2t..

I don't hate 4 strokes, I have raced them and they are OK. But I really dislike the double the displacement rule that the AMA goobers let the "lawnmowers" have.

If it was equal displacement in ALL forms of racing I would be fine with them.

The double displacement rule was stupid when they passed it, it was stupid when Yamaha came out with the YZ400 four stroke and yes, it is stupid today.

Well ask your self what is there to like about 4 strokes? i bet it'd be a pretty short list!

If you're really objective about it and weigh up all the pros and cons of 2 vs 4, 2 strokes wins hand down.

The market has now changed/feed up and the big manufacturers/ race promoters are now left behind the eight ball, but they will at some point get with the program

If you understand how to properly maintain a four banger, there are no issues.

If not, she's going to explode like the bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima.

Because it sounds so much cooler to explain to someone how you go thru a section like " BRAP, BRRRRRRRRAAP, BRAAAP, rather than "FFFFFFFT, FFFFFFFFFFFFFT, FFFFFFFFFFFFT".

And how many 15 year olds can "maintain" a 250F? At 10 years old I figured out how to change rings on my GT80 by myself and it even ran when I got it back together. Now at 44, I'd rather let someone else do the 250F while I wrench on my 2 strokes. You have to admit, they really haven't done anything for the competitiveness of motocross as a sport. Factor in the 250F killed off the 125cc class and I feel that has been a major kick in the nuts for the sport as a whole. I don't think I'm the only one who feels that way either.

But that's a French company and in France it's 2T and 4T. Maybe the guy posting is from France but it says he is from New York in his profile.

Only in the pros. You can run a 250 2-stroke with 250 4-strokes in all forms of AMA racing except pro sx and mx. So unless you are a national pro, it doesn't matter.

In french the word "stroke" means "trait" - that's where the T's are coming from. Unless someone is speaking french the correct abbreviation should be "s" not "t".

I am not posting to debate if a two stroke is better than a four stroke. I can tell you that if maintained properly, the four banger is much less work for a pro level rider than the two stroke.

With that said, if the four banger is abused in any, way shape of form. it will go off like a bomb. From my past experience, most recreational riders are not all that good at proper maintenance.

I can make a two stroke sound all my myself...
It takes 3 grown men to properly make a 4T sound:
Guy one BLAAHHHHHHHHHHH
Guy two POP POP POP BANG
Guy three BLA BLA BLA BLA (floating valve panic rev)

AHHH, THATS why I like the 2T better.

It does seem that the 4 strokes have leveled the playing field in pro motocross so that's a good thing. A privateer has a good chance of doing real well. I really don't remember that happening that often on 2 strokes. Maybe somebody can point out something that proves me wrong though. You had to do a lot of modifications to 2 strokes.
