Hi, I was recently looking for a dirt bike for my 10 year old son, He is 4'10 and from what I have heard so far the Honda Crf110 is the bike I should get for him because of fuel injection and things like that But, I wanted to get opinions from Actual riders.

All depends on alot of things... what type of riding do you guys want to do? CRF110 is a decent trail bike and a great starter bike, if you want to do any kind of track riding that's not the bike. The suspension is terrible on that bike for any kind of speed. At 4'10, you will be done with that bike quick as well. You might consider the 125F, and he can grow into it a bit and your not swapping bikes as quick.
If you think he at all is going to be aggressive and riding track, I'd look at a 2 stroke, 85 Kawi, yamaha, or KTM Husky. You can lower those bikes for cheap and also reduce the power with simple mods that you can take off later when he gains confidence and is more comfortable on the bike.
I have 2 boys (13-11) that both ride, and we've gone thru them all. Just be thankful you never have to deal with a KTM 50.....

I will second most of what Karl said, especially the ktm 50 part lol. I would not get a yz or kx 85 for very first bike, I know the used bike market is a nightmare but a decent xr 100 pw 80 and understand you will be moving on pretty quickly if he takes to it at all no matter what u get

It's better to buy small and move on quickly than to buy a big bike and let them hurt themselves.

I have twin 11 year old boys, one is 4’7” the other is 4’10,” and we got them each a Klx110 last Summer. First bikes for them and they took to them pretty quickly. For the bigger kid he’s going to be too big for it in another year. The smaller boy is already eyeballing an 85 or 125 two stroke. When we got the bikes I just got them on the bike to see if they could hold it up on their toes. Flat footed the bike would be too small.

If it’s his first ever bike and he is 10, I would get him one without a clutch.

Yup

Whichever 110 you can get and there's different brands, heights, clutch systems...etc. to choose from.

Just got a 110 for this exact purpose. Kid's pretty casual and it's just for fun, 10 yo.

If he starts going fast or wants to go to the track, it'll be YZ 85 time and I'll keep the 110 for shits and grins. At least he'll gain some competency and confidence on something appropriate.

Buy smart, and used, and you'll make your money back anyway so no sweat moving on or changing things up.

Fwiw I like the 85s better, even for trail. The little four strokes are so heavy and poorly suspended they are quite limiting. If an 85 is too tall or intimidating then a 65 would be my choice. High strung motor but so light and still has much better suspension and chassis than any of the air cooled four strokes. The little two strokes also are great for teaching how to ride well. You learn quick how to keep it on the boil with the clutch and gearbox.

I have a friend who bought his 10 YO a CRF125f and he took to it like a fish to water. First bike, not one problem learning the clutch. It is nearly impossible to stall, e-start, not too big.... IMO a way better machine for a 4' 8" kid.
