I have a 2004 Kawasaki KX250 2-stroke that Im thinking I may sell. But Im not sure what to list it for or what I may be able to get for it.
Im the 2nd owner. Ive ridden it twice briefly. Then I brought it over to my buddies mechanic (factory kawi) and put about $2500 into it (not counting labor). I'll post pics or email 'em if someone is interested and the price is right. As for appraising this thing without a pic, lets just say that Ive never ridden it since it was completely rebuilt, and that it is in pristine condition. Showroom clean.
Here's the list of what I did to it:
Framed the bike
Lubricated everything, repacked hubs/linkage/etc
Bead blasted everthing, including swingarm and linkage to make look brand new again
Rebuilt Top End
New Clutch
Rebuilt Carb
New Hoselines all the way around
Maxima ProFilter
V-Force 3 Reeds
Powder coated frame flat black
Excel Rims black
Spline drive spokes
Powder coated hubs white
UFO Plastics
UFO Fork Sliders
OEM radiator plastics
OEM brake guards
Pro Circuit graphics
Sunline Brake/Clutch Levers
Sunline Shift Pedal
Tag Grips
Tag Handlebars
Tag Sprockets
RK MXU 520 Chain
Pro Circuit Platinum Pipe
Pro Circuit 304 Shorty Silencer
Pro Circuit Ti Footpegs
Pro Circuit Billet Brake Hose Clamp
Pro Circuit Brake Hose Guide
Pro Circuit Hour Meter
Pro Circuit Temp Strip
Boyesen Magnesium Clutch Cover
Boyesen Magnesium Magneto Cover
Billet Oil Fill Cap
Moose Fork Bleeders
Moose Billet Case Saver
Anyone have an idea what this might be worth? Yes, Im being lazy for not posting pics. Sorry.

The Shop
the 1500 dollar bikes look pretty beat. and the 2400 dollar bikes are somewhat clean, but nowhere near as nice as mine. prior to refurbishing it, i tried selling it for similar prices to what i saw on craigslist...i couldnt get 1500 for it. so i said fuck it, might as well keep it and fix it up so its not such an eye sore in the garage.
everyone that see's it in the garage now thinks its a worx bike.
i'll try and get some pics up tomorrow.
2500 should be your bottom line. It sounds like a nice bike to me, and a 2 stroke die hard would pay that much for it in a heart beat.

Keep it.
Except the MOTOR! That's gong in a 2012 KX250F "roller"!
Bwahahahahahahahaha!

Yes...i spelled sprocket wrong.
Is $1875 that bad of a price?
It's cool that it's all restored but most guys buying an 8 year old bike just want to put-puttt around on it and just want it to start. Like most well modified/ cared for vehicles they have a lot more value to the person that built them than they do on the market place.
I built a ridicoulous bad ass diesel truck and probably put about $75K in it. Been trying to sell it at $20K. No interest. See how that works?
I'd suggest, just keeping it. You could ride that bike and use it for another 2-4 years and only lose another $500-1,000 tops.
Pics?
If it handles anything like the Kawi AF500 I rode I hope you're only planning on going in a straight line.
as you can see, it still has a brand new paddle tire on it. it was gonna be my glamis machine. i have a brand new rear tire that ive never put on it.
i got my ninja for the street, my superjet for the water, and my crf250 for mx. im a new ktm150 or '04 cr125 away from having the perfect garage.
it looks like i'll be keeping this thing for now. if i were to get a decent offer, i'd sell it and start a new project bike for glamis. i was thinking a late model RM250 or new KTM250. but oh well. everyone that see's it in the garage thinks its the baddest thing ever and talks in the $4-5k range when i mention possibly selling.....but that seems to be far from reality by evidence of this thread.
since this has just turned to bike porn anyways, i'll post pics of my CRF250R when its done. all white plastics/HRC clutch 'n magneto covers/HRC billet stuff/custom adept graphics kit/lightspeed carbon/etc etc etc. the honda will not be up for sale any time soon! haha
I know some are into motogp here. Im turning the ninja into a full on '06 shinya nakano factory replica. had to order the graphics from europe. doing the same with the yamaha superjet, putting a '10 rossi replica kit on it. should look pretty cool when done.
