watching the last 4 minutes of the Skateboard Vert was afuckingmazing... seriously i got the chills when Shaun White pulled off the last 3 tricks of his final run to win gold. that's the shit the X-games are made for. unfortunately, that was the one and only event worth sitting down and getting a chubby watching.

From Mason's FB:

Nate killed it in Speed n Style! I know a lot of people think I got robbed, but I for sure didn't! He had 3 solid tricks and stayed close enough to me to grab the gold! I am perfectly ok with silver! I was just happy I won the race, that was all I set out to do!! Thanks everyone for the support this past weekend, love you guys so much!!

I know he's being a good sport about it and him and Nate Adams are friends, but I agree he did get robbed. If the judges want to really judge speed and style then they should let each rider on the track by themselves. Race against the clock and throw big tricks too and leave out the bs politics of having to decide between two riders at the same time.

I agree about Vert. And that's what makes that such a great story - that White won legitimately.

They only did that to Mason because he was on a 2-stroke. Let's really get this thing fired up! Really can't argue with anything in that article other then all judged sports be it figure skating, MMA, Boxing etc, have this crap happen.

Nobody, went out quite like TP199, and a retrospect of his weekend ran throughout the day on Sunday...Even during the Enduro-X event. I didn't understand their (ESPN) motive. There is definitely an agenda there.

Is this all about the drink that you're plugging???

They should title it "speed and flip", because if you weren't going upside down every hit.........................well, you had to win by half a lap. Why not have a predetermined score for tricks on a 10,9,8,7 etc scale, with every point difference equal to 1 second. There are maybe 3 flip tricks that would equal a 10 with the rest being a 9 along with a few combo non-flip tricks, your 8's and 7's equal majority of non flip OG FMX and then supercross airs are 6 and under. A set scale would play more into the strategy of things. Damn, if only Mason would have flipped one more jump, oh well. I know there are other tricks beside flips that would score a 10, but lets face it, nobody is going to throw a body varial or double back during a "race."

I've always hated judged events...any judged event. X games are no different. And that's why I like racing...first to the checkers wins...doesn't have to be pretty or have perfect technique...just has to get you to the checkers first..

I don't think it is as technically difficult as Nate's flip stuff, but the Rock Solid/throw away the bike thing and grab back on/ trick that Mason was pulling was the coolest trick in that whole event.

on pulpmx adams said that his sponsors only care about one event d thats xgames. he said he could pretty much be hurt the rest of the year and they wouldnt really care. He also said the fans voting is a crock because they arnt professional judges having a say in a professional event. these guys livelihood depends on their finishes and if they get "robbed" its hurting them in more ways than just the color of the medal.

I honestly didn't even watch this year, and reading from this article I see that I didn't miss anything at all. I wish I would have seen Shaun White but YouTube will take care of that for me. My first X-Games missed in awhile. I could tell it started going downhill a few years back.

I wasnt thrilled that White won. I felt bad for the normal skaters getting beat straight up by a part timer. Nothing against Shaun, he's a nice enough guy, just too much hype for me to root for against the regulars.

I think White would fall under the category of "vert regulars" considering that's the only skate event he does...ever. never seen him in street or park.

I went for quite a few years, did SD, flew up to San Fran several times, when they moved it to LA, I was stoked, but then they started to charge, and I did the first couple years then stopped, pay to fight the traffic, pay to park, pay pay pay, it was free for what the 1st 14 years ?? sheesh I watched a little of it on tv with my son this past weekend, he got food poisoning so he was down for the count, but I really wasn't too interested...

Sondra, all you have to do is some kind of somersault on a motorcyle and you'll get paid all year!

I also remember when X Games were free at Mission Bay in San Diego. We went to Enduro X this year and it was totally worth $25 a seat plus $15 to park (where I knew the car wouldn't get jacked).
The seats were great, the wives had an awesome time and the racing was epic!

I'll open a can of worms here and say that it's a way better deal than a Feld Supercross. It's an apples and oranges comparison- but at the end of the day, to take my family to an evening of racing, that Enduro X was a better venue with a better view and less crowd for half the money. And the food was better.

Yah the money for X Games is pretty good, I heard 25k to run a Arma/Monster etc. logo on your lid and that is for a newby, wow and that's not even bonus' if medal.

114k people in four days doesn't that seem light ? Or they just going for the TV coverage?

Seating capacity is less that 20,000 for the Staples Center, so that means they're claiming it was full everyday plus 34,000 more people outside, not too shabby if those #'s are real, for a 4 day made for TV show. The TV is the focus, as that's what ESPN does it for, the people that show up and pay is just gravy for them, covers the production costs.

You kids know that the prize money for best trick gold is $40k plus sponsor bonuses, so you'll have to split it between the two of you.
