For those that went to the SX, the fly over from the US Air Force was legit. I've seen 7-8 of these over the years, and I'm no expert on the type of plane used each time, but this year, when they hit the afterburners on these things......................HOLY SHIT! You could see a bright trail of flames off the back, it looked like a Hollywood prop or HD movie. Then they banked it hard left like a bowl turn...............damn. Maybe others can comment, but there was just something about it this year. PROPS

that was an f-22 raptor, its currently the the best plane in the united states. the reason they can turn so hard is the thrust outlet/ exhaust, whatever you want to call it, can be shifted in the way it points up and down.

That is super cool to experience live when they fly over.

Wonder what that cost for them to do it?

Yeah the F-22 has thrust vectoring which can move up and down making it more efficient in turns and changing direction, especially at slower speed maneuvers.

The B-1B Lancer is the loudest jet I've ever heard up close (this thing really shakes the ground), took this at the Australian International Airshow last year

Damn that's beautiful. It looks like fireballs are coming out the back. It may be a complete waste of money, but it sure is cool :p

That's one waste of tax money I don't mind paying for, the best flyover I've seen was with a C17.

The fighters are cool, but I bet seeing a B1 or B2 would be awesome.

I'm no patriotic patriarch, but I' ve been to many Vegas Supercross shows over

the years - with the fly-over as a particular highlight of the celebration of the introduction

ceremonies.

Arm hairs at attention. Difficult to swallow, proud to be an American. Swelling with pride,

awed by aviation technology - all that.

Me man. No cry.

Wings, flames, sky, mountains, stadium crowd and nightfall. Supercross time in Vegas.

Yes it was the 1st time they used the F-22 and the first time I saw the Raptor in flight. It was awesome, like every fly-over. Strong, noisy, a shear expression of raw power. Worth the full day there.
I've got a small vid of it I'll post when I get home

I wonder what Feld's tab is for the fly over? Free pit passes to the pilot?

The Air Force does it for free at big events, it's great PR.

Yea, then an our or so later, the pilots are on the podium getting interviewed, WTF? Did David Coppafeel make them reappear or something.

They must of caught a helicopter back because the drive from Nellis AFB to the track would have been a good hour with traffic.

On a side note with the pit pases for the pilots, imagine their kids /family in the industry area. "My dad is on that Green bike there and he races SX."

Next kid, "well my dad is on his way here now.......Oh here he comes now!

They flow really low right over my house before Bengals games. You can actually see how fast they are going. It's truly amazing.

Wasn't me, I had a 2 year on my shoulders that was beating my head like a drum. I caught an illegal thumb to the eye and a J-Law ear bite. I had one eye watered up, thats for sure.

I posted something about this earlier. I really wish I could have been in Vegas just for this. Anyone who was there is part of a lucky few to see an F-22 go full burner. So awesome...

The F-111 is great for dump and burn passes, I don't think the USAF ever did it at Airshows/Events. Pitty the RAAF retires the F-111 next year Sad

Ha! The RAAF has been doing dump-and-burn flyovers at skyshows and events in Oz for years.

The tear didn't fall from my eyes, but when my son looked up and said, "Dad, that was really cool", the lump in my throat kept me from answering. I knew, however, I didn't really have to say anything, when he saw the look on my face he knew how proud I am to call my self AMERICAN!

I meant the plane itself. Fighter jets are pretty useless today, with our main threat coming from terrorists. We've not used the plane once in Afghanistan or Iraq. I mean, it's necessary to maintain air superiority, but we don't need to keep building F22s to do so. The planes are ridiculously expensive and draw away money from more important areas.
