Looks like Chad didn't like what RX posted on Instagram. I think maybe they meant it as a "we want to see Reedy up there" and "you can do it Reedy" type thing. But I can see how it can be misread.

"Chad Reed ‏@CRtwotwo 5m
Post like this from our so called industry insiders is SO LAME! The people… http://instagram.com/p/Z5pn0xmpPl/"

It looks to me like he's jumping a step up in that pic and it was just a play on words and a way to say they are pulling for him.

In the photo Reed appears to be jumping a "step up" hence the caption. Someone tried a play on words that did not quite come out right. Chad sure lashed out at them however.

interesting...i think Reed overreacted a bit but that same fire, intensity and perhaps sensitivity is what makes him such a fierce competitor. when you're at the top of the sport (or any sport for that matter) its usually whats between the ears that separates the good from the great. He's getiing horrible finishes but he KNOWS deep down that if healthy he can still get results. Gotta love that attitude.

I'm a huge Laker fan and this reminds me of when Mark Cuban mentioned in an interview this year how the Lakers should possibly do an amnesty clause on Kobe's contract in 2014 when the new luxury tax kicks in. It wasn't a malicious point, he was merely stating the dollars and cents from an owner's persepctive. it got a lot of play on sportscenter, etc and the next day Kobe went out and scored like 40 pts and tweeted right after the game "amnesty THAT".

elite level athletes are some high strung and intense sons'abitches! interesting to see if RX responds or just lets it go

Sounds like the "industry insiders" are no better than the Vitards, they have no idea either and just spew a load of bollocks as well.

Good for Reedy.

I have to say that has to be the dumbest thing I have ever read from a pro racer.

How on earth do you take anything from RacerX's post other than the fact that they want to see him up front?

I agree that it seemed like he overreacted a bit, but I thought his comment was interesting about RacerX being in bed with the series. Seems like that would be a conflict of interest. What interest would they have in criticizing the series. Just one of the differences I see between MX and more mainstream sports. Sure, there are other outlets (Vital, TWMX, MXA) but I'm sure most of us come here to the forum for the juicer stuff we can find because it doesn't get reported elsewhere (i.e. the fines thread). And if that stuff does get reported, it seems like it can be pretty biased.

Everyone wants moto to be mainstream. Mainstream money. Mainstream attention. Mainstream viewship.

Ever see the sports section of a news paper? Articles about quarterbacks, pitchers, and goalies all underperforming. You think they care? They laugh to the bank. Ever watch ESPNs 'around the horn'? All they do is roast mainstream athletes. Get over it Chad, and get on the podium. We know you can.. Its probably out of context anyway.

Oh, goody, even as a girl, I know this answer!

RacerX=DC= AmaRacing(mx sports)=owns some tracks on the National circuit!

How did I do?

*AMA and AMA Racing are 2 different entities.

I think the pic and words was a way to help get Reed fired up, guess what? it worked and he barked back.
Right, Good for Reedy

It's just because DC runs both the magazine and MX Sports.

It's just a play on words that was blown way out of proportion.

I think he's "Reeding" too far into it and taking it two two serious. RacerX has long been a supporter of the series even before MX Sports, and I'm certain they just want to see the old Reed back up front and were not "Chadstizing" him in any way.

That's what I was thinking. Seems like you have all your ducks in a row. I like RacerX the mag and the site. I just think the conflict of interest can be the reason some things aren't reported and why some questions aren't asked. That's why I like Vital. Seems like we can stir some things up, even if a lot of the times things are unfounded and facts go unchecked. Good to hear from GuyB, DC himself, and other insiders on occassion.

Wow, I shot the photo, I wrote the caption, I was trying to be supportive. It was a step-up jump. I tried to explain this two days ago to Dave Osterman, it obviously came off differently than it was intended.

I apologize to Chad and his fans, which I have long counted myself among. I really didn't see this coming.

Chad's out of line on this one. I read that on Instagram yesterday and I interpreted as it was intended: To be encouragement.

He (CR) needs to apologize.

It's days like this when one of my 2 stroke threads seem like a ray of sunshine. Bunch of sand filled vaginas on the loose lately.

sucks Reed took it so harshly. he does need to step it up, when is the last time he has been outside the top 15 four motos in a row? and i'm not sure he's been inside the top 10 fastest laps yet this year.

i'm a huge Reed fan, always have been and always will be, but it sucks to see his poor results this season. hopefully he can get well and get back to where he belongs

Its actually pretty easy to understand why Reedy is upset.

It's known by those who work at RacerX that he has a bum knee that he has to race through it due to sponsor obligations. By telling him to 'step it up' you're basically ignoring that fact and implying he isn't trying hard enough when in reality he is probably going as fast as he can with the injury he has. I can understand how he would take it personal.

I agree with MelonFan123, professional athletes are of a different breed.

I agreed with Chad that it sounded a little weird and unprofessional. I don't think it was intended that way, or to sound so "lame" but it did end up that way. I could see it bugging him but I could also see him letting it go.

Maybe a guy who is frustrated about being hurt and not doing as well as he feels he can is a little annoyed that a magazine that clearly must know that he is injured made a comment about him needing to "step it up".....when really he is injured and needs to heal.

Telling someone they need to step it up is usually an implication that they are not trying as hard as they could be........I know if I were Chad that would annoy me.

Now before anyone goes crazy here I understand that was not what DC meant but if you look at both sides.......maybe Chad has a point.

Come on CR, you have earned back a huge fan base over the past few years, and I am one of them, but this was not necessary at all. I'm sure you are pissed at the season and we all still believe you are one of the big dogs when you are healthy. We are just sitting here waiting for you to come back to form-we're good here. There was nothing untoward in that message IMHO.

Exactly, It could have be worded " Way to step it up @crTWOTWO" Rather than the way it is. I can see both points here

Big Chad Reed fan here, been one since before watching him swap through the sand whoops with a gimp shoulder on the YZ250F over a decade ago. But he is one who is always throwing out witty little tweets , quotes and photos prodding along potential sponsors and jabbing the ones who screwed him along the way and he couldn't understand the gist of DC's pic and comment? Weak shit there, I'm a little disappointed. Laughing

I sent Reed some roids, and he hasn't adjusted to the "rage-factor" yet. He'll be back sooner than later bro.
