This is why Chad irritates the hell outa me. If you read his interview on page 74 he pokes jabs here and there at Yamaha and goes on to talk about how he fell in love with the Suzuki 450 from the time he seen it on the cover some time ago. Bla Bla Bla... What else is he supposed to say right?
What gets me is when he talks about the carb problems that only Yamaha seems to have? He says his wreck in Detroit was because of this. Give me a break!!!
Well this is where i get irritated because i went to Detroit for my one and only supercross that i have ever been to. My son and i went there to watch a good friend of ours race the lites class and we had a great time. One of the things we had the pleasure of doing was watching practice. I was actually excited to see Reed ride in person. I was literally watching right in front of the jump he wadded on about 10 rows up. I had my eyes on him and him only the whole time.
And let me tell you in my opinion he wadded because he made a mistake. He clipped his front wheel on the face of the landing and he went for a ride. It didnt have a damn thing to do with his carb!!
To me this is typical Reed running his pie hole and complaining about something like a little bitch!!
Its ok though cause with Villapoto moving up Reed will once again be Mr. 3rd place!!!
Please note, although no boardcode and smiley buttons are shown, they are still useable

is Reed an a-hole?? maybe.......

but maybe it was how he was released that has him so ticked... if at where you work, you are the best employee there, and then suddenly your boss comes in and says GTFO your fired, you'd be pissed and not have much good to say about your former employer either.....

I am a huge Yamaha fan but even huger REED fan. You must have not watched the video for the crash cause soon as he left the table top and try to jump off the bike had nothing.

It's just business like any pro sport. L&M wanted the fastest rider and had the resources to do it. Happens everyday in football, baseball.

James got let go by kawasaki as well, and he has been a gentleman about it. He hasnt thrown one stone behind him, hasnt knocked the bike or the team, he has taken it like a man and moved on, and will show Kawasaki made a huge mistake by not paying him the money.

So far, Reed has knocked the Yamaha bike, the team & Larry Brooks.
What is he going to say when his old inferior, underpowered, poor handling Yamaha bike goes by him like he is in reverse?

It is pretty clear in that video that he had no go off the step off.

It is also a well known fact that the carbureted bikes can have a big bog on g-outs. EFI cures this. The top guys are VERY sensitive to nuances of the bikes...

MxDaD324, there is no reason for Chad to cover up a mistake. He came back and gritted out a championship. If it was his mistake, why would he leave Yamaha because of it. Obviously L&M didn't want to spend as much as Reed wanted (evidenced by the fact that Stewart is a title sponsor of the team!) and combine that with "bike" issues Chad didn't want back.

Also with Yamaha's and carb problems...remember when JLaw couldn't get his bike started in Anaheim? Yea 4 strokes are notoriously hard to start, but the Yamaha's seem to have carburetion issues.

Ya and it look like Reed knew he wasnt in shape to race hard against him so he just moved out of the way, so that is a smart move.

With all due respect, I think this sentence pretty well sums up your observation skills, DaD, "Well this is where i get irritated because i went to Detroit for my one and only supercross that i have ever been to. "

Anyone watching that video of his crash can see that his bike bogged, or at least hesitated, which at that level is enough to ruin your night. Why not take Reed at his word, especially in the face of the video evidence and the many posts supporting his version, written by folks in here who have been to more than one SX event?

There, that's better...

Smile Perfect response. Step off's like that are common place for these guys. Reed landed that one nearly perfectly. His back wheel was barely on, he had all the time in the world to get off...it wasn't a timing issue, this was a bike issue.

If this was a timing issue Reed would have known he screwed up and at least made some attempt to get the front wheel up with the throttle.

You guys can defend Reed and thats fine. I have been around MX for many years and i have little interest in SX its not my thing. I only went to this one to watch a friend race.
So i think i know a little more than you think. But thats irrelevant.
Once again i was there. The bike DIDNT bog!! He screwed up. Period!!
I give the guy credit he came back and rode his heart out and i admire his strength but if he wasnt such a crying bitch all the time he wouldnt be subjected to topics like this.
Im done arguing with you rocket scientists.

Those yamahas have too long of boots both incoming and outgoing from the carb. They aren't ridgid enough on hard landings to hold the weight of the carb and it causes a horrible bog, both on the 250fs and the 450s. Back when they had the steel frame, carbs falling off were commonplace. Im the biggest Reed hater there is but I'm pretty sure the bog claim was legit, however his injury claims seem a little fluffed up.

1) JLaw said he did not have any issues with his Yamaha all year until that one moto and he was not upset with it over one issue.

2) why not take Reed at his word? Because he has been so full of it over the past couple years his "word" is worth nothing these days.

3) Reed has no class, IMO

4) I too think it looked like he stepped on and did not give it enough to get off but, I dont think it was a bike issue, ride error. Been there done that.
