Offered a Factory ride according to his Twitter...

Could it be a similar scenario to Townley, where the Euro team is offering more than any US team could/would pay?

Reed knows and has stated that this is the top level of competition...I can't imagine him going back over seas to race against subpar competition. My thoughts are that reed finishes his career in the us

Australian legend Chad Reed has been offered a factory ride by a team in the FIM World Motocross Championships. This rumor has been around for some time and talking to several teams in the paddock there has been contact with Reed about a possible return to Europe. The Australian who is pretty much funding his own effort in America this year has always said he would like to return to Europe for one more season before...
It is hard to imagine though that he would leave the AMA series at the moment as he is riding better than ever. With the strong rumors of Ryan Dungey moving to KTM in 2012 that leaves the Suzuki spot open and Reed would be perfect for that position, having had success with Suzuki in the past.

Although Reed enjoyed his year in Europe and it would be the perfect way to end his International career before returning to Australia.

More soon.

Yep, you read that right. Chad Reed has been offered a chance to return to the FIM World Championships in 2012? This rumor has been around for awhile, but it wasn’t until Chad confirmed it on his twitter page that it was reportable.

It is unlikely that Chad will take the deal, although at one time he did say that he would like to return to the GPs—which is where he got his start (outside of Australia).

Given that Chad is paying his own way (with works parts from Team Honda) at the 2011 AMA Nationals, it might seem tempting to take a paying gig in Europe. But, Chad is now an employer (with people who depend on him), he is enjoying himself (for the first time in a long time) and he will have to wait and see what kind of offers he gets, in terms of dollars, to keep his team afloat in the USA (which depends a lot on what Ryan Dungey does). Plus, riders don't report contract offers on twitter unless they aren't planning on taking them.

But, it is nice to know that you are wanted.

Don't think Chad would race the World Championship again, he loves supercross, that's why he is in the US plus 12 days Outdoor motocross in one country is a lot easier with a wife and small child than 32 days racing Outdoor motocross in different countries, plus maybe a national championship and international races thrown in.

GPs are a different ball game, he has been before and done well, but he has more to think about now and with a small kid it would be difficult to leave his home in the US.

It would be cool if he did and would probably be a contender for the title but he wouldn't find it easy going to back to GPs, it would be harder than racing in the USA ... but it would be a great way to finish his career where he started especially if he won the World title. That would check off the only major big bike title he hasn't won.

If the money's right, it would be good for him to win a couple of easy world championships at the end of his career.

If he does that I'll never cheer for that sandbagger again. The B class at LL's could podium over there.

World Cahmpion is like a "B-Class" rider here in the U.S.

Chad isn't going anywhere - Not even for money. That's not what drives him.

The article is shit stirring.

Heard Brad Lackey is doing MX1 next year with his 1981 Suzuki. No way anyone over there can beat him.

They've got guys over there racing V-twin aprilias, I'd say he has a great chance.

That Aprilia is still better than James' Yamaha.

We all know rider's don't follow the money. That's why they race the best series in the world. AMA Motocross!

Gp's would be too easy for Chad. He's be lapping the field atleast three times in a race.

That would be great if Chad did give the WC a crack.

I'd definitely take a Euro vacation and check out a couple of rounds.

Darn, I figured you would say he would be shocked at how deep and fast the GPs are Wink

Is there really that big of a difference in speed over there? I have been watching the GP's lately and they look pretty fast. Maybe it it just looks that way.

These guys are just trying to get a rise out of the GP fans on this board. I think pretty much everyone has a great deal of respect for the GP series. The AMA and GP series are pretty much equal. I started watching the GPs only recently. Bobryshev is fun to watch. AC is on the 350 and Nagl is on the 450, is any other KTM rider in the series on a 350?

Why would chad put all that money into his team just to split after a year? He set that team up for the long term so I highly doubt he will leave.

Who ever said a manufacturer wouldnt bring him and his team to Europe? It wont happen but it could if he wanted to I'm sure.
