With all the skepticism on RV retiring now or in 2015 and the way people "say" he doesn't look like he's having fun anymore, I did some thinking. I posted this in another thread, but as usual there were 7, no, make that 9 arguments going on within the thread, so not many people saw my post.

I am just curious as to what some others think. Am I WAY off or could there be some validity to my thinking?

COULD it be Aldon Baker? It seems after a rider has been with him a while, they lose their desire. Happened to RC after he got with Aldon, you could clearly see Stewart got burnt out after being with Aldon, and now RV. Roczen is NEW to the Aldon Camp, so I can see where he hasn't had time to get burnt from how strict Aldon is with his training.

I am not in any way suggesting Aldon is a bad guy, but MAYBE he is a little tooooo hard. I just find it ironic that after 3 of the best riders in this sport have spent 2 years or more with him as their trainer, they are roasted and ready to move on.

I didn't say he retired, but you could tell he was roasted and over things. He switched trainers, got a new bike and now he seems in better spirits since he got away from Aldon.

It's not bad thinking. I posted something like it a bit ago...

But ask RC if it was worth it and I think his answer would be yes. (Plus RC still rides quite a bit, no? I don't know if he was off the bike for some time after retiring...)

That's a interesting thought.

you could be on to something.

ill be honest RV was right when he said "RC Ruined motocross/sx"

The year-round type of training these guys do is fucking nuts. id much rather play ride in the hills and drink beer and race then do as much training as they do.

It wasn't Aldon Baker making Stewart feel "roasted". Baker said that he was the one who backed away because James wanted to do things his own way instead of Aldon's way. He basically told James it was his way or the highway...and...he left.

That's what Baker said.....What's James story? Obviously James doesn't have a problem with his fitness. So.....

James said they spent too much time on the bicycle, and he wanted to spend that time on the motorcycle.

Would you train every day for $5 mill a year?

I think Aldon takes the fun out of it. He burns his guys out. Remember when James, RC, and Travis were young they had some much fun all they wanted to do is ride and Aldon takes that away from them. Let these guys train in their own way. MX/SX is supposed to be fun but train hard. James is a good example look at the way he is riding like he did when he was on his 125. His attitude has changed big time.

I feel like Aldon could have a lot to do with it. Seems like every video I see of Aldon and Ryan training Ryan is pissed off and tired of his crap. He obviously has a way of getting the best out of his riders, but maybe its a bit too much sometimes.

I can definitely see that happening, I just don't see anyone having a KDUB length career doing a regiment like that for long. I think it will tell a lot if KROC stays with him, since he's a fun loving dude and all. It would seem like a personality like that might not make if for the long haul with Aldon.

You know what you're getting when you hire Aldon. He's going to train you to be a champion. You aren't going to lose a race because of fitness when he's your trainer. Will it get boring and tiring? There's a good chance of it, but the ones who hire him know what they're getting before they hire him. If you don't like it, the easy solution is to do things the way you want to. For most people, their desire to win makes whatever Aldon does to them worth it.

You're right! If in 2 or 3 years we start seeing the same thing out of Roczen, then we have our answer.

If I was a pro, I'd be using O'mara, Ryno, or Lawrence. Their guys seem to still be fit, but still love going racing on the weekend. And I think that has a LOT to do with them being riders/racers before they started training. Aldon comes from a cycling background, so his mentality isn't the same as the guys listed above.

All I know is that in NZ, our top Rugby players are taking sabbatical's now & I have to be honest I think it makes a lot of sense for guys like RV to take up to a year off to refresh, he's been at a very high level for one heck of a long time.
I'm not convinced about how sterile & bossy Aldon appears to be, but I think blaming him alone is unfair.

No prob, the truth might be in the middle somewhere. I also thought I heard it cost 1 million dollars to hire Aldon for a 3 year contract, and I would be surprised if he would walk away from that without having RV already signed up, which I don't think he did at the time.

For whatever reason they didn't renew their contract, seems to have worked good for both. James is still in good shape, and Aldon got another contract with another Champion.

Back on topic, I would say Aldon could be burning guys out, but its hard to know for sure. I think he went to guys who were possibly going to be champs with or without him though.

James seemed better after he started laying on the couch more! In all seriousness couldn't they just do two hard 45 minute moto's every day? They would get in shape and they would get plenty of riding in. Why cross train, just train in your given sport.

I would say the year round race schedule burns them harder than Aldon. Hell when I used to ride for fun 3+ times a week it got old.

If I was a pro I would be racing for championships and would use Aldon in a second. Proven to help get great riders over the top...
