John Matherson, owner of Mission Motorsports in Irvine, Ca., was tragically killed Saturday, when he crashed his road bike off the side off Ortega Hwy. John's shop had every brand. Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, KTM, and Polaris
John, was a Former Road racer, and Speedway sidecar Champion.
He was on his way to Costa Mesa Speedway Saturday, to be honored.

A Murrieta motorcyclist died Saturday afternoon in an unincorporated part of Orange County near San Juan Capistrano, according to the Coroner's Office.
John Bruce Matherson, 53, apparently lost control of his motorcycle on a curve at Rancho Carrillo Road south of Ortega Highway, Supervising Deputy Coroner Daniel Aikin said.
Because the area is secluded, Matherson was not discovered until a few hours later. Coroner's officials responded about 4:25 p.m. The accident, which occurred about 1 p.m., was being investigated by the California Highway Patrol, which could not offer further details Saturday night.
Matherson was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, Aikin said.
I just want to say, I have known John, for 25 years...He is very well respected, always had a smile, and was very humorous. He was a dealer owner that worked nearly everyday, as a mechanic.
You will be missed my friend.

Changed to Yamaha, moved across the freeway to Camino Capistrano, in Laguna Niguel, then to Cabot road, (LN) then, and now, to Doppler, in Irvine.
John, and his Brother Billy, were Yamaha, backed road racers.
His service department rocks too. He does a lot of factory, and warranty repair. Pricey, but good.
The Parts, and accessory department, lacks a bit but still the guys are cool.
Business will run as usual. John didn't have his hand in the running of the business as you would think. I mean he was the boss, but a very relaxed boss. He worked as a mechanic, his Son in law, John Sutton, ran, and watched over almost everything. They have a silent partner.
