Matthes is an insider in the sport, knows all the insiders and works for racer x. Your crazy if you dont know who he is. Former mechanic for Tim ferry aswell.

he also doesent start too many rumors, most the things he says end up true. Like when rv2 said he was racing outdoors matthes said he wasnt, and when he said millsaps isnt gona do a race on the ktm and millsaps told him to get his facts striaght... well he never did a race on the ktm.

So first you dont know who is he is, then after i tell you, you dont like him? That is ridiculous. He is a very positive thing in the sport. Does a TON to help people out and even does a thing where you can vote for a privateer and whoever wins gets the money usually around 500 bucks. Hese great for the sport.

The guy is actually a pretty good writer and his story about traveling with Nic Wey that was in Racer X awhile back was epic.

Matthes was a mechanic on the circuit since the mid 90's, quit with factory Yamaha in the ear/mid 2000's and has been doing media stuff ever since. He's the #1 source of info in the sport, magazines don't report until the press release drops. He may ruffle some feathers and may not always be right, but he's plugged in and if he reports it, 95% of the time it turns out true. You've been under a rock, or are new to the sport if you're just now questioning who he is.

I can't believe I just spent a minute of my time responding to a thread this dumb, by a poster as ignorant as this guy.

Steve is good people - a Canadian who moved to Vegas. Like stated above, from privateer wrench to factroy wrench for Tim Ferry. Furthermore, has love afair with Tony Alessi. Wink

Tony Berlutti, another Vegas resident, is often on the show. Berlutti is damm good people - met him in 2003 - Vegas Chinatown - while eating Sushi and we talked moto for 2+ hours. He invited me to pits on race day but I could not make it. There needs to be more people in world like him - a real happy awesome human being.

Jt$ - former pro who brought it hard every weekend. Now a big rep (do not know exact title) at Fly Racing.

PulpMX is good for motocross.

Wow... Didn't know that he was helping privateers out or that he was a good guy.. Just felt he was a little weird when I listened to his show a few times. But good on him if he's doing good stuff. I guess I have a lot more respect for a guy that does that kind of stuff.


And yes morongo has high speed internet and trails out my back door. Don't be hatin!

He's a huge source of info for a lot of us to be honest. Like stated above he was a factory mechanic. He's tight with a lot of people in the industry. They guy hangs out in a few of the factory rigs on race day shooting the shit with mangers/mechanics/riders so his info is straight form the source. Some times he can be a little annoying on twitter but he's usually right for the most part and he isn't afraid to call people out like Davi Millsaps. All of the season silly rumors like Kenny going to RCH people who listen to the show have known about for motnhs....Between him Weigandt and Thomas you can get some great insider info from the pulpmxshow and btosports preview/wrap up shows.

Steve is definately a cool guy... Im sure like most on here if i cant listen to the show on mondays, then i catch up by listening to it while i mow my yard or just sitting around. Dude is a great source of info and like many have said is almost 95% true most of the time.
