This year we had the 2 Stroke invitational...we've had legends.

What would be the response of an Adaptive MX class, at the MX national @ Glen Helen ?
Maybe, at the Vet. Nationals...

Is this something you would like to see, or be a part of ?
Ridge ?

I made the suggestion today. I like the idea, however, the sand may be an issue.

Rick James Sr. ?
What are your thoughts ?

Absolutely would love to see an Adaptive class! Something east of the Mississippi would be nice, but anywhere is good.

Well...I can only push for Glen Helen. But thanx for your input...You should hit up your closest National track.

I'd have to give it some thought. Right now I'm trying to convince Ricky to stay off the bike until after the Ironman World Championships in October.

I think it might be better to try and do it at the Vet nationals and we need to see how many would be interested. I know the guys that went to the X Games had a great time but the track was too gnarley for them, an outdoor track would be much better.

Stay in touch on this,

Pretty sure sand won't be a problem since Ridge just raced a round at Baja in MI a few weeks ago.

I am confident Chris Ridgeway, can handle it, my concern is the the guys that are Paralyzed.

Although I would prefer to see 2 stroke races like GH did, the adaptive guys are simply incredible. Tremendous respect for them.

I am wondering though, if someone like Ricky tips over in a corner or crashes, is it possible for him to get going again without outside assistance?

Certainly the outside assistance rule can be waived for this.

I really think thats an awesome Idea, if theres enough riders to run a race. I'm sure if theres some questionable terrain for those unable to standup they could redirect around certain abstacles like the ktm jr races at sx, or just do a portion of the track thats ridable and safe for those unable to stand or put down there feet. they wouldnt have to run the whole course to have a good fun race.

That is my concern. They could easily tip over in the sand, but again, these guys are Pros, and haul ass.

Not being an AMA event, there is no such rule.

I'm not suggesting that some fool try to enforce the rule, I was kinda' hoping that they did have a way to get back up. Maybe a pole like skier's use? Unsure

It does make sense to put them on a course like the Vet or Vintage guys race, but maybe the guys actually racing that class would fee otherwise?

I also was not insinuating anything, but what is best, and safest for the riders.

I think it's best to wait and see what the actual riders think.

The paralyzed riders would need assitance getting going again if they were to fall. We had that worked out at the X games with people stationed around the course to help so the flaggers could stay in their positions.

I don't think it would be a big deal to assist them, it's more about them getting out there and being a part of the races than anything else. Just how you would feel if someone told you one day that you could never race again.............

What kind of sand are you guys talking about? they should be able to get through it, heck Ricky rode throught the silt beds in the Baja 500 and has riden in the sand dunes.

The only part of a track design that doesn't really work for them are whoop sections becuase they can't get off the seat to skim them, rythm type stuff is best.

Yoou know how deeply rutted up glen helen gets im not so sure the rails on the bikes would go through those sections where it gets really deeply rutted but other than the sand whoops and deep ruts. Ricky runs really well at elsinore on the hard pack that may be a better type of track to race on for that event. I dont know I've never seen ricky ride on glen helen in those rutty conditions. thats why I suggested to run around some sections but if he can do it I want to see it he amazes me everytime I see him out on the track really cool and fun to watch. I'll be out there sportin my 824 shirt if you guys put the race together.

The Adaptive class would be run prior to the Premier classes, so the idea of sending them out on a rutted, and abused track, is moot...

They would have a clean prepped track, which is far better than anything Elsinore can, and will, ever have.

Elsinore, is a skate park on dirt.

Rick...I'll see where I can take this, then we can set up an off regular practice day, and have a few of the guys try it. Ricky, and some of the other guys, can give it a go

Sounds great if it's done right . I'm sure with Mr James and a few of them giving input it will be fine.

This sounds like a great idea. What defines being able to fit into the adaptive class?

Mr. James, any support you need for the further development of the adaptive class can certainly be solicited in our direction of fellow family supporters.

A group of us are in the permit process with our city to hold a Watercraft Dash community fundraiser in mid Sept. I'll be representing the RiderDown Foundation.

We'd welcome an adaptive class!

Just last night at Perris Raceway I invited Chet to our PWC sit-down, time-trial celebrity dash.

Aww! The look on his face as he briefly thought......and said, "That would be cool!"

You're family is invited too!

Not only would I like to see it but I would help atleast get one rider to the race like I did this year for nats. Get the ball going now and we could have it done.

These rules are unclear to me, this is all new to me. But I am trying to make it happen.

ridge, where's my bike??

Kidding. Seriously, If you will transport to and fro, we're in for whatever, where ever!

What defines adaptive? If you ask me, it's anyone and everyone that might not otherwise ride. When a bunch show up to race, then make some rules, but for now, it should be wide open for everyone that is even thinking about it.
