Just heard that the amature WEEK for 8 laps of racing at Millville did not produce more riders. About 50% of prior years. Imagine that. First time in 12 years we did not race it.

That's nuts. I've been to Millville quite a few times not all that long ago on a regular (not national weekend) weekend race where they had 800-1000 entries.

National races on Saturday, Amateurs on Sunday would certaintly up turnouts, but down laps I'd assume. Then again, a good amount may just head home Sunday; hard saying.

Hi, Checkerz!

We skipped this year only because I missed their new pre-entry deadline or face high $$ sign up at the track. Then, found out they extended it a week, presumably when nobody signed up. Too late, we changed our plans.

By skipping practice, races, higher admission, higher camping fees, septic services, etc, I feel we easily saved over $350 and will get there Friday night. Also, we can carpool with my girls and save gas $$, too!

See everybody there!

Oh, I forgot to mention they added a full day to the amateur program, this year.

We did the Red Bud thing again and without stretching out the program, we got a day of practice and a day of racing. Fun and do-able.

Just my opinion, as usualUnsure

Biggest problem here is the schools' overreaction to the ice storms and snow we've been having the last few years. The kids have already gone back to school. Many riders used to make the trip up; this year almost none are because of school.

I usually go as well. I decided to sit this year out. Some of my friends said that practice was pretty busy yesterday and that they added A LOT of sand, especially to the whoops along the creek. I guess that even the A riders where having trouble getting through them.

I cannot remember a time since i started racing (72) that the attendance has dropped so dramatically. A few weeks ago at a d-23 track the Sunday attendance was just over 100 entries! That track is no to far from millville and has been around for at least 20 years. In northern Mn. the tracks are doing slightly better it seems as the track i raced the same day had just under 300 entries but even that is 40% off what we saw 2 yrs ago.

It's all about the price of oil..

Ah, thanksSmile , Those tires are long gone.. I rode hundreds of times through those things and in the old days when our suspensions had 4" of travel they seemed as gnarly as they do today with 12" suspension! There was also no corner before the whoops, just a straight wide open in 5Th gear approach. I also have lots of pics from those days when we did not even go up in the hills and the track was basically flat!

Seeing Tommy Benolkin hitting them on his 125 wide open was cool as hell

That is how I remeber the whoops there....not 8-10 ft deep. I ahd a hard time in the early 80's in them still on my 60 though.

Just an FYI-
Am sign up was right around 860. Last year it was just shy of 1000.

I think the post entry fee had something to do with that, but all in all the moto's were pretty good.

The sand wash was so nasty for Wednesday practice, they had to "tone it down" for the rest of the week. I was very happy to see that!

BTW, Tom Benolkin raced the LL qualifier this year and has exactly the same style he used to. When he went be me his feet were flying off the pegs and his butt was well out over the back fender.

Wow those prices are high.
Unadilla this year had like 1100 race entries. It was more crowded than last year. 2-3 gates in most classes. The prices were not as high as Millville.
$65 for the whole weekend including camping.
Pre entry for racing was $30 a class I think. $40 or $50 post entry.
