Anyway, I'm not doubting Herlings OR Cairoli's sand abilities. They are the best sand riders in the world. All I'm saying is that it's crazy to assume that there won't be any American's within 30 seconds of them. Dungey (and Stewart was right there with him...beating him, actually) is currently putting 45 seonds on the rest of the riders in the AMA....and it will probably be more at Southwick (not "real" sand, blah blah blah blah). The Americans may not beat Herlings/Cairoli, but they will not be 30 seconds behind 2nd place and 40 seconds behind the leader (at least not unless they crash). That is drastically underestimating the Americans ability (and no, I'm not underestimating herlings ability....the dude will win, unless he crashes).
Toni hasn't really had a killer instinct at the Nations since that brilliant MX2/MX3 win at Matterley. I just don't think he'll be prepared to risk it racing with the kid at breakneck speeds.

eg: Tedesco - comparable in speed to Short/Millsaps/Brayton
Commence abuse...
It's like the stupid comparisons that Mcread always makes....(a hypothetical example) well Seb Pourcel beat Coppings in 1998...and Coppings beat Windham in 2000...and Windham beat RC in 2004...so it only make sense that Seb Pourcel would beat RC in 2007.
"Comparable riders"...lol....
(and in recent years Tedesco has been significantly off the pace of Short, Millsaps, Brayton. I know the argument you are trying to make, and its that the Tedesco you saw in at the MXDN in 05 and 06-or 07?-is a comparable to Millsaps, Short, Brayton you're seeing on the podium in SX and in the top five in the nationals. And it's absolute comedy!)
i think they should be alright
I don't get your point, Tedesco when at the des nats repesented your 3/4th quickest rider. Is Alessi or Short or Millsaps or Weimer suddenly going to be a class above what Ivan was in 05 or 09?
Am i supposed to just submit to your superior motocross knowledge of everything bar world class riders actual names?
Anyway, enough is enough...have a good day.
last year Herlings came 7th in the qualifying race.... i don't foresee that happening again
Dungey will be solid, Barcia will be (in my opinion) a little reckless and probably crash a lot, Tomac and Baggett could do well if they continue in the vein they're in right now. Endurance will be a massive factor, which could maybe rule RV out?
The bottom line is, whoever the USA picks will still all be perfectly capable of top 10 race results and that will put them in with a great chance of taking home the trophy. All they have to do is ride smart and not crash, but that is easier said than done at Lommel.
My (ridiculously premature) prediction is;
1. Belgium
2. USA
3. France
It shows the mentality when anyones alternate opinion can be taken, twisted and made into something that was never said. And the term hypothetical can suddenly be used to try and cover up an idiotic mistake.
Pit Row
Send Short, Alessi and Tedesco.
*Disclaimer* this is NOT a shot at the US or it's people, just echoing the stereotype that runs rampant world wide!....you know, like how all Canadians are polite and like hockey.
LIVE CAM LOMMEL
The aforementioned Team should go as "Puerto Rico".
Btw, I'd put them down as Co-Contenders for the Win.
I say lets just wait intill Saturday of the Nations is over and then we all know a bit more, intill then lets just enjoy the Gp's and AMA nationals and all talk in a few months time about who might do what.
Dude.
