Does any one know why Mike chose to go straight into the 450 class when turning pro? I wonder how different his career would have been had he chosen to ride in the 250 class. I would almost bet he maybe would at least have a championship to show for all his work. Talk about a rough career kicking ass as a amateur and then not being able to win a single pro championship. Seems like a lot of riders get 250 championships, even if they never go on to win anything in the 450 class.

He did ride the 250 class. If memory serves me right, it was 04, 05 and 06.

I do remember him in the outdoors on a 250. Who could forget when he put his bike on top of Ivan Tedescos bike at GH. Although I can't say I remember him at all in supercross on a 250f.

You're post is flawed in the fact that he DID race a 250F first. Just like most of the guys.

He raced the last few nationals of the year in 04 on a 450 but that was all.

He jumped up to the big bikes quick because he was scared of Villopoto.

His camp had talked so much shit to all the Pro rider's in the lites class that year he was scared to race that class. He raced the 450 with the thought that they wouldn't take him out. His dad that year said he was the fastest guy on a bike in Cali........

I remember he kept saying he wasn't afraid of Stewart, but then he raced the 450 to avoid Stewart.

He should have "jumped" straight to the GP's.

He should have concentrated on what hes good at, ballsout speedy motocross not our supercross inluenced mx we have here in the USA.

Besides, I heard Marvin Hagler has rooms for rent in his Villa.

That's the only point in is career when he could be mentioned in the same sentence as Stewart.

Always helps to know a little history or at least do some research to back up your claim before posting. I'm guessing you're either too young to remember or just were not into the sport at the time, but Alessi did have a full 250F career before jumping up to the big bikes in 2007 outdoors. He rode 250Fs in 2006 SX West and 2007 SX East.

Hey thanks for the info I was 18 at the time and I have been a fan since I could walk. I honestly didn't remember him on a 250f in supercross. I must have been fixed on watching RC or something regardless I realize now that I was mistaken. But thats whats nice about these forums, now I know haha. thanks again for the info on the Racer X vault.

I was at Loretta's mikes last year there, while he was on the line for a moto waiting for James Stewart and company to finish showing off the new bikes James decides to ride across the start straight and basically call mike out by pointing at him as if he was saying "do you want some".

The funniest thing about this is you said why Mike chose to do it.

Mike doesn't choose shit.

Best I can remember, the 450 class was pretty empty when mike went pro at millville. They went to the 450 class first because it was less stacked and he was faster on a 450
