How far have you gone (distance or time) before you realized you left something at home, turned around, and drove back to go riding?

I went 45 minutes (added 1.5 hrs of driving) on a Wednesday afternoon a few weeks ago - got to ride for about 1 hr before it got dark. Had SERIOUS thoughts of just staying home.

This post is even painful to bring up this information. Usually if I go that far I go without. I have forgotten chest protectors 300 miles away, knee guards 75 miles away. Gloves 140 miles away.

Just recently I rode for 30 minutes just to get the wet dirt. I probably should have never left the house, it was dark when I was riding. I knew the track so I felt comfortable but if it wasn’t for the full moon I would have never gone.

I'm so freakin' anal about making sure I have everything in or on my gearbag the night before. I'm trying to instill that in my that into my son but...We've gotten to the track ('bout an hour away) before realizing he left his helmet, boots or something behind. Now I just ask him once if he's got everything, if he doesn't, he watches. He doesn't forget stuff much now. Teenagers...Unsure

About an hour. Summer of '97. I was living in Vegas, & had taken the summer off to rebuild my 95 RM 250 from the ground up...powdercoated the frame, all new plastic, Black Excels. I hadn't ridden in a couple months & was soooo pumped. We unloaded & I got all geared up, then realized I had left my helmet at home. Luckily for me, it was still early in the day. I hauled ass back home & grabbed my helmet (huh, huh...huh...helmet), cursing all the way. I rode one moto before getting a rear flat. Luckily (again), I had a tube & we changed it right there. Not exactly the best day, but still mucho fun. Ever since then, I go through a mental checklist before leaving the house...//TJ

I was in a big huge rush one day to get to the track, had my bikes out, gear out, gas can, stand the whole works sitting by the trailer to go. Get in my truck and start driving down the drive way when i realized something isn't right. Look back there isn't a damn thing in my truck, it was still all sitting beside the trailer.

But I have a terrible habit of forgetting gloves probably 25% of the time i will forget one or both. One time I made sure I had 2 in my gear bag, looked at them, both red and blue. Get to the track all geared up put the first one on, go for the second and I had 2 left handed gloves. Man was i pissed.

About 10 years ago when I lived up in Washington me and two other guys all drove from Tacoma to Washougal (3 hours) for a practice weekend. When I got there and unloaded, I realized I had forgot my gear bag....And to top it off, I didn't drive. We took my budies van. Needless to say, he let me drive the van back home to get my bag. So I drove back home and turned around and drove right back. 9 hours of driving in one day to go ride. It turned out to be even a worse weekend than that as the next day I was coming down the ski jump and they had watered right before the "S" corners and I hit the front break and went down hard and broke my right thumb. One of those weekends to forget for sure.
