This has probably been debated on here many times but is there any info out there on who's lid is safer, built better or basically offers better protection then the rest?? I suffered a nasty concussion [b:1ddsh36c]IN the Hospital [/b:1ddsh36c]after i broke my collar bone back in Oct. I'm still suffering from post concussion Syndrom but when i do ride again (hopefully soon) i want the best or safest lid available. I'm sponsored by Fox and wear V3's but my accessories guys insist i get Arai's or Shoei's. Any body have any info?? Test results?? thanks

I guarantee that you can get concussions in just about any brand helmet (been there, done that). I have what was essentially a brand-new Shoei that I crashed and got a concussion with. I had the guys at Shoei inspect it and they told me I was good to go...which sort of made me nervous.
Find something that fits [i:3uqzyxgp]you[/i:3uqzyxgp] comfortably. Everyone has a unique head shape.
Try and find something that has a reputation for being a quality-built helmet.
Talk to your Tucker Rocky sales rep and get the Arai. In my opinion and based on the information that I have read they are the safest helmets on the market. If it was my head I'd be buying an Arai.

A good friend of mine that is a TR rep said he will ONLY wear Arai now. He used to only wear Shoei, but he watched a video from Arai and said that is the only thing that he would wear...regardless if he had to pay full price or not.

Our local TR rep was the same way. But this year he switched to the Shark helmets said they are as good or better than Arai. Probably got his for free . DV and MA both wear the Sharks also .
NO i had to take a leak and the lazy pigs in the E.R. wouldn't bring me anything or help me to the can. they made my wife walk with me and i passed out in the can cracking my grape on the sink then the floor. i was out cold for 10 minutes or so. they said i passed out from the morphine injection for pain.
i cracked a V3 last year form a hard face plant, split right down the chin bar, and a few of my riders also broke V3's we were told the helmet cracks to absorb the shock instead of your head??

Free Corvette or maybe a Porsche??
not according to that report... and shoei's arent that cool looking anymore. most helmet co's have decent graphics on them. i read this report a couple of years ago and it convinced me that a DOT only helmet was a great way to go but i had already gotten a DOT/SNELL helmet so next time...
in essence yes BUT at that point you'll most likey die from the other injuries sustained according to the report so less concussions would be better...
The VM-T fits my head like a glove and is very comfy.
You do not need to spend a fortune to have a high end helmet, solid Black or White are $279.
I know lots of you are more concewrned about what MFG has the sick graphics but thetas the last thing I give a shit about when it comes to helmets (or any other product for that matter).
Those cracks might have saved your life!!!!!!!

Watch e-bay for dealer closeouts. The last two I bought were for $200

So basically youre saying Shoeis arent what theyre cracked up to be, correct? What about Arais?
I'm not sure there's any perfect answer.

Dave, I was told by my TR rep that the article you have posted was not exactly un-biased. The story I was told was that the people who wrote that article were actually trying to become THE independent testing laboratory that all the helmet manufacturers used to get their ratings, such as snell or dot. I was told that they didn't get the nod for one reason or another and that the article was written by them sort of as a way to get back at the helmet industry. There are some valid points there but I still think that people need to know about where their information comes from.
Apparently, this was covered in a Tucker Rocker/Arai dealer training seminar of some sort. All of the TR guys I've talked to spoke the same type info. All good info, about the Arai helmets. I have worn lots of different helmets and the Arai is the best in my opinion.
Anyone else noticed a lot of the high profile riders, after a couple hard jolts to the noggin, switch to Arai helmets and put their sponsor sticker on the lid? A couple of note lately, Pastrana, and Hepler. If I'm not mistaken those guys bought those helmets as well. I'm thinking even KW buys his Arais. I don't know of any other helmets that sponsored riders switch to mid-season and cover with their own sponsor stickers.
