Dungey took the EXACT same line as Stewart in the EXACT same corner - on the first lap of the restart, cutting down on Tomac. Hard to be critical of a guy, then do the same thing as him.
Racing incident, and NOBODY's suggesting any malice on RD's part, but man up and admit it when you make a mistake. Whether you jump on somebody from behind, or plow into them in a corner from behind, the responsibility is on the rider behind.

Did not need to happen.
The Shop
As for the actual incident between Dungey and Stewart I don't think it was a blatant take out at all.
Bummed for Stewart. First race back and gets punted by the defending champ.
You can't write a more compelling beginning to the SX season.
Unfortunately, it has overshadowed Anderson's awesome race. That was a hell of a ride.
Sure it would be Canards fault. History proves it
Seely led for 14 laps and Dungey only got into 2nd on the last lap. I'd give more props to Seely.
Pit Row
How ironic that Seely would lead for 14 laps and get passed by Anderson on lap 15? Same as the old days when they battled in 250.
It's a line and a move and an incident that has happened a billion times before in SX and will again. It's hardly any different from Bowers/Webb last year and there's a bunch of vitards looking for a hanging.
Should Stew have cut down so hard so early in the race? Maybe not. But he did.
Should Dungey have gone to the inside so hard so early in the race? Maybe not. But he did.
It's racing. Shit happens. There was nothing intentional about it.
All just a matter of opinion.
Anyway, it could easily be that Dungey was planning on jumping inside of him no matter what, in which case it would've happened no matter what.
When Dungey did it, it almost looked like he sneaked a look over his shoulder to see if there was anyone there...
I do think a rider should be aware of who's behind him before cutting down like that, kind of like seeing who's behind you before you mash the brakes on yellow instead of standing on the gas. I also think a rider should be aware that the rider he's following might cut down (this was more or less Canard's deal last year w Reed. If you insisted that was not a racing incident but Canard's fault, but in this case say it's a racing incident, you might be in the wrong).
Sad that Stewart's out. Hope he's back soon.
