DC,
This may be off the wall and already thought of, but what about have an Outdoor Pro National at LL's the weekend following the ATV race as part of the National Series?

You have the equipment there from the previous events, spectator parking in area 3, Lots of camping available. Pro Pits in the Yamaha / Honda areas and north with hook ups and a shower house. Vender row is Vender row, etc., etc. You get the idea....

Could it be possible and would people want to come back two weeks later for a Pro National?

ya, parking would be an issue with 20,000 people.

also i honestly do not think the track is National Caliber when compared to Red Bud or a Millville

it is a good thought though.

I am thinking the SE National will be in GA or AL though

They would be running in the 1:40's on that track.
i could see high 1:30's...honestly, dungey and villo would jump whole sections of the track like turbo...that track compared to an outdoor national is diddly

No offense Jim, but I think the LL track would be extremely boring to watch, especially the TOP guys.

I think the ranch is great, with all it's history, but I can think of about 15 - 20 tracks that are better tracks.

Agreed, Lorettas kinda sucks, biggest amateur national should be on a good track.
Not bashing DC, they do a badass job prepping it and it's good but not good enough.

There needs to be something though. Having a 2 week break and then a 1 week break is kind of ridiculous. There's not any tracks that want to fill the gap or what?

Thanks for the suggestion but Loretta Lynn's really isn't set up for a pro national. It would be like having a Major League baseball game at the Little League World Series' stadium in Williamsport!

Okay, maybe not that extreme. But it's not set for a pro national, nor is it in a great spot to draw spectators. Something around Charlotte or Atlanta makes more sense in my opinion.

It would be great to have a Natiional in the Charlotte area;but unfortunetly there is not a existing facility that is even remotely qualified to handle one. I doubt anyone in this area would be able to come up with enough money to even approach Mxsports about buying one.

Don't they get 30,000 plus for those games? It would take the Dodgers three games to hit that. The Rays would have to play there for a week to hit 30,000 fans.

Thinking outside the box here, why not change where Loretta Lynns is held? Maybe rotate it to the national tracks? You could have two weeks straight moto. Maybe overkill huh? lol

DC the place that needs a National is Horn Rapids. It's outside Richland in WA and you can make anything you want at that facility. Parking shouldn't be a problem with the entire facility beingt used and it could follow shougal. Get guys like Jimmy Lamastes back out there trying to qualify along with local legend Dan Moore.

Loretta Lynn's works just fine as a once-a-year motocross track. Moving it around would be going back to the system that was in place (and did not work) in the late seventies and early eighties. It would take a massive campground to hold all of those RVs and campers for a week. Red Bud could do it but they have no hook-ups or bath houses or anything. I think Loretta Lynn's is an exceptional place for a unique event. Why change what's working so well?

As for where a national will be, we are still looking, have three visits planned for the week after the MXoN. We even have a couple of pro riders looking around for a place.

You guys need to think about the infrastructure needed to hold a huge race like LL or a National. Another thing to consider is LL is centrally located to major population than previous Am Nats when it was traveling. This makes it more fair for the majority of the racers to travel to.

DC how many camping spots are typically used at LL? 1000-1200?

That's why I said think out of the box. I'm sure the superbowl does well in San Diego, but thaat doesnmt mean it should stay there. I know a certain track in socal that could handle a national crowd, as well as a amateur national crowd...Wink

You really think they would run times that are 20 seconds faster than Justin Bogle? Even though Bogle ran top 3 in moto 1 at Unadilla?

There's always the MHFX track.

I've built a couple tracks on my property. It's too rocky and gets grown up too fast. I ride once every couple months, so I don't understand it....
