I was away from the computer all yesterday & trying to catch up. What happened to him? I see 40/40 moto scores - that's not good.

Crashed in the first moto DNF and I don't think he started the second.

Apparently he was knocked out in a crash in the first moto, but it couldn't have been the one that they showed on tv that was on the first lap because he was up and moving right away.

Well crap, that sucks huge. Just found this on DMX too:

After being picked-up by the Rockstar Star Valli Yamaha team as a fill-in rider, Cole Thompson made his debut at the picturesque track in Washougal, Washington, today. Unfortunately, a first-lap crash in moto 1 of the 250 class did some damage to his shoulder. His brother, Kyle Thompson, said, "He had a crash but should be good for the second moto" and that it had "just roughed him up a bit."

Thompson said later that the had decided to opt out of the second moto. Cole just wasn't feeling 100% and the team "doesn't want him to push it," added Kyle.

The Lucas OIl Pro Motocross Championship now takes a 2-week break and will resume in Southwick, MA Saturday, August, 11 giving Thompson ample time to repair and get himself back to race shape.

Get well dude!

Thats a shame. I would have liked to see him stick to his own bike in the 450's but when someone offers to pay the racing bills you pretty much can't say no.

That's about as bad as a debut as you can have, too bad.

His qualifying times were pretty good at least. I think he has what it takes for sure!

He only had a week on the bike after coming from a 450. It's no wonder he got hurt.

I hope he comes back and does good. Seems like a very good rider but he may be another 450 rider....

I was there yesterday and unfortunately I was standing right by Cole when he crashed for the second time on the first lap. His crash that put him out yesterday was one of the worst crashes I have seen in a while. Coming out of the right hander before the "road jump", high sided and landed on his head. Was out cold for a while. Heal up Cole.

Not doubting your eye witness report but that kinda sounds like the Jimmy Albertson crash.

Whatever the case, I hope both riders are ok soon and be back after the break 100%.

Jimmys crash was on the downhill section before the whoops. Coles was the going uphill towards the road jump. (The corner before where Barcia crashed in the 2nd moto).

Cole's crash was nasty. I'm not quite sure how it happened, I caught the peak of it as he rag dolled to the ground.

Cole had 3 days on the bike and he absolutely loves it. The team has been great to him. He's looking forward to Southwick.

Someone please tell Cole not to ride that YZ450, his career will be short lived. No money is worth the Yamapult.

I wish the kid all the best. I enjoyed watching him run in the top ten on a 450 that he and his dad put together. Think about how many "big name " riders were out there on great bikes and were behind him.
Im happy for him that he got that ride and I hope it helps him but it will be interesting to see if he can ride that Yamaha like he did his Honda.

I was front and center for Jimmy Albertsons crash. Made me sick to my stomach to witness that dirty digger. Out cold, not moving for at least 5 minutes with his helmet spun a quarter away around his head.
