I have a motor apart and am wondering what you all do to make cases look factory fresh? Even though it's a '15 this one is showing some grime!

If you want to do it the old fashioned way, some Brasso and a scotch brite pad or wire brush works good

if the bearings are already out, pretty silly not to do vapor blasting. cheap and easy. else youre looking at hrs doing it by hand.

Vapor blasting with a brass brush touch up makes them look brand new. When we blast cases we leave all the bearing in so the bearing area is not touched by the process, blast them, and then remove all bearings and clean the cases again. You will want to replace ALL bearings because they will have silica in them.

We do it here at our shop, or there are other places around.

I would also recommend vapour blasting !
The engine cases will be more protected from corrosion and dirt stains.

This works great. Cut it with degreaser or dawn soap. Here's some parts I've done. Used it on my swingarm and it looks new. Use gloves!!

Maxima filter cleaner seems to be the best. Others would work ok in a pinch but I always try to use maxima.

Sodablasting works, if you know of a machine shop with an ultrasonic tank, they can drop it in there for the day and it will come out great.

One thing to stay away from is scotchbrite pads on a dremel or air grinder, they can remove a lot of aluminium in a second, which will give you sealing issues. The buffing pads above are fine though.
