Are you talking about the hay bale in the turn at Glen Hellen?
I still am amazed the power of the CR250 to loop out in what would seem to be 3rd gear. Damn I bet that bike ran.

Damn. Still if you are like 10 inches tall, I guess falling becomes more of a rolling thing than anything in contrast to if Ken DeDycker falls (huge GP-rider), then we see a crator.

I thought that was on the KX...the first turn crash?

RC was one crashing dude, especially early on. Remember his first year in SX...he'd rag doll and get up and get going again.

The first year he won SX, I think he crashed/knocked himself out either in practice or the heats of nearly every event. I went to 3 races that year and I know he did at Dallas, Houston and SLC. SLC was scariest...looped out going into a triple and laid on the ground for a while. Still won the race that night.

He really is the greatest of all time. Watching them videos just shows how crazy fast he was. Always stepped it up.

I still don't know how RC went through those whoops with his feet off the pegs and not go down. Hell, I don't think he even knows! Unreal.

BTW, how much it is going to take to get Art Eckman back? He makes the racing sound so exciting. I have an awesome time playing back the races I recorded on VHS from when he was announcing. I could watch those tapes all day long.

What about that crash in '99 when he clipped a haybale on top of the step on step off section, and shoulder dug into the backside of the landing? He came back tuff everytime though. Miss that dude.

99' Daytona: Looped out in the "hoops"
99' Las Vegas: After crashing in the whoops Greg Albertyn hammered him with an 8 number plate
00' Minneapolis: Crashed, finished 20th place
01' Indianapolis Heat Race 2: Wild ride in the "hoops" after the seat hitted him in the box
02' Anaheim 1: crash in that horrible settings Honda
02' Pontiac: Looped out in a Dragons back
03' off-season: crashed and missed the whole 04' season
05' Daytona: Crashed in the "hoops" trying to catch Reed
06' St. Louis Heat Race: crashed in the "hoops"
06" Dallas: crashed in the "hoops' trying to catch a blitzing fast Bubba that made a mockery of the speed of RC in the "hoops" and almost hit a boat

P.S. Come to think about it there's a lot of "hoops" in there

Wow, and we thought James was a crasher!!
What you saw was about 10 years and even more titles worth of crashes from Carmichael. I think Stewart has crashed as many times in half as many years of racing.

RC could crash without getting hurt too bad. That is very important in MX/SX. CR and RV seem to have the same talent.

Yep that's true. They all crash, but the great ones are certainly better at it just like they are with everything else. Part of riding is learning to crash.

thanks to everybody for adding these vids of RC. What a great ambassador for the sport and a true legend....the way he hangs of the bike is amazing.

do riders styles change much from when they were juniors? Of course they will refine things, but I am guessing that they keep a similar style?
