I've heard rumblings about Bubba being fired by Kawasaki and going to Yamaha. In other news there is also rumors of Chad Reed leaving supercross and starting his own series in his native Australia.

Can anyone confirm??

there is no chance of reed leaving the SX series mid season. i seriously doubt that bubba would switch teams mid season either.

On the Stewart issue, my understanding is that it's immediate.

The 'Reed going to Australia' is after the season is finished.

The Reed story is waay old news. He went over there last summer and did some races and then signed a deal to promote and race in the Australian SX series.

so i called my budy lamy is el cajon cause i couldnt remember the details about the rumor he passed on to me...he filled me in...stewart was rumored to be going to gibbs racing so thats a yamaha...but until something actually comes out we're just stiring the pot...

It would make absolutely zero sense for Kawasaki to get rid of James. Seriously? You guys think he's going to race for Joe Gibbs? Dumbest rumor I've ever heard.

Why would Kawasaki give up their most valuable rider? That would be like Suzuki pulling all of their support for Travis Pastrana. Absolutely asinine. James is their top seller, he appeals to a huge range of people, attracts attention to the sport, is an excellent role model, etc.

That would be like me saying "I think I'll give up breathing."

Not really the dumbest.

Kawasaki may give him up because since Washougal of last year they have got about 5 races out of him. We all agree he's the fastest guy out there - when he's out there. I'm sure he's not only the fastest but also the highest paid. He crashes and gets hurt a lot and Kawasaki are not getting the wins and championships they are looking for. They are not getting a good return on investment.
The comparison with Travis is not quite correct. Travis fame and Image came primarily through his Freestyle career and his crazy videos. How big was he the year he won the 125 national title ? A fraction as big as after he did all his mad FMX stuff.
Don't forget , also, that Roger De Coster did not want to hire Travis , some big wig at Suzuki made that happen. Perhaps James has no big wig making it happen .Also do not forget that Travis has a huge personality . Bubba is a cool guy but he's no Travis Pastrana.
Travis FMX career and personality is what keeps Suzuki handing out bikes. Not his125 national title or any other MX related feats.

I surely hope that Kawasaki doesn't fire Bubba. It would be nice to see some loyalty from a rider to the company that has made him the champion he is today. The only rider to do so was Jeff Ward. I do find it odd that he was giving pointers to a rival team rider at Daytona, Ryan Dungey, and there have been rumors about James going to Suzuki. I would think that he would be giving pointers to Ryan Villopoto or someone else on the Kawasaki squad. It seems funny to me that almost all of the best riders always start out on Kawasaki's and dominate, only to leave when they have a championship to defend. Why do all these riders, RC included, leave a team that is obviously working for them. Maybe it's Kawasaki. I think if Bubba does leave, it's because they already have Ryan Villopoto ready to go for next year. They should think about giving Preston a shot in the nationals and host a three rider team. Kawasaki has always had the fewest riders of any team, but yet, they always win championships. You have to give props to Preston for riding so well for just popping in this season on a new bike. He impressed me with the speed he showed at Houston. As a personal request to Kawasaki, keep Bubba on the team and don't loose him like you did with Ricky Carmichael.

Its not as silly as it seems for Kawasaki to end it's relatioship with Bubba. Next year RV will be over in the factory truck and the following year maybe Stroupe. Those 2 will give better value for money.

Maybe Toyota/Gibbs racing is going like "we will give you the money if we have results"
Check last nascar race , Toyota 1 and 2nd , both for Gibbs racing.
