IF ALREADY POSTED.... Apologies, I don't have time to sift !

Hello everyone its Mike

Well the motocross season had gone like I expected for about three races! I won four motos ,and two events , I feel I was the fastest rider in moto cross this year , however once again circumstances have prevented me from winning the championship , I feel is mine to win! after winning the Freestone National.
I was certain I could win every moto of every race the rest of the season , many riders were passing out ,and could barely stand up, and I felt like I could ride three more motos , and it was easy to win! the Monday after the freestone national I had an invite to do some media and press appearances, like live radio, and TV for the upcoming event at Hi Point National, I rode the track pretty carefully, getting ready for the reporters to arrive, however, I over shot a corner, got up on wet grass and slid down a hill into a fence post ...I never crashed!!.. when my front tire came in contact with the wood post , it jerked my handle bars into my left knee ...I knew right their my season was over !! Later that day I learned I had a broke knee cap, it was opened across the middle, and the bottom was broke in half.. I had it operated on the very next day, and within 30 hours of the injury I was in extensive rehab, and doing everything possible to make a return to the AMA MX series, which I still lead by 31 points! I missed the Hi Point National, but was still a very strong second in the series, and only loosed 19 points to the new point’s leader! I felt I still had a chance , so I trained ,and got myself back to racing by Lakewood ,only 19 days after my injury ...I had to try to stay in the championship!!! I knew if I could finish top ten, I would still have a very good chance at winning the championship!! When the race came at lake wood I was in inside the top 30 in practice one, and by practice two I was 21st fastest!! I was getting better every time I rode, and my confidence was rising!! when the race came I was second off the start , I planned on the faster guys getting by and I stayed out of their way ...I knew I could settle into about 8th or so ...which was my plan ,and it was working !!

However , I was hit hard by another rider ,and it was a blind hit which took out my front wheel , never saw it coming ...next thing I know , I am on the ground , trying to crawl off the course , my knee was hurting ,and I knew it was re injured ,tho I hoped it wasn't ! I rode for another lap or two, but I realized I was hurt and pulled off.. I got it checked and it was re broke, so the next day I was back to Morgan town WY, to have it re operated on ... So that brings us to now!! my knee is getting the full 6-8 weeks to recover ,and as of now I am almost 5 weeks into the repair of my knee ...i can walk pretty good , like hardly no limp at all ,and I am ready to get back in the gym ,and on a road bike very soon, I will most likely not race the rest of the season , not of my choice ,but I believe they are not wanting me back this season ...soooo I guess my first race back will be sometime in September ! I have some good opportunities, for next season, and my guess will be it’s not what everyone’s expecting! I think my schedule next year in

2010 will be very different then most racers in my class, but it’s what will work best for me !! I will win a motocross title next season , I know what’s needed to win, I know how to win , and I know what it takes .. there may be others out there with the same idea as me ,and think they can win, however I know exactly what is needed now , and I will win the 2010 MX title outdoors ..

I am writing this from Catalina Island, I am on vacation now!! As soon as I am 100% I will be back at it , I think it will be any time now ...I am counting the minutes to the day when I can get back to my program! To everyone who is behind me, I give you thanks!

Wow !! He's not full of himself....... I think he should look back to GH and RV

His grammar and spelling is atrocious. It's actually worse than some of the people on this board, which is no small feat...

I used to like Alessi, I really thought he had turned himself around these last two years on Suzuki, but from this letter it really seems like he's still incredibly cocky and self-absorbed. Sounds like he and Suzuki aren't getting along too well... MX only contract with Yamaha?

He's not full of himself.

He's a winner and has the confidence of a guy who's a winner.

The speed Mike Alessi had at Glen Helen, even though RV won, was frightening...if he gets his head in order a healthy Mike can win a title in 2010.

Maybe if more riders had that same attitude, we would see more battles at the front of the pack?

Can't blame him for coming back so early.
Don't they get a huge bonus check for the overall win and championship win.

It was a question. We know Alessi is going to Yamaha, but since he said his schedule would be very different, I was wondering if it would be motocross only.

What a cocky little bastard. Can't wait to watch RV whoop his ass all over the place next summer.

How many TOP riders aren't cocky? It's what gives them a competitive edge. You guys bag on them if they don't show enough heart and when they show heart and confidence you say they are cocky.

What would you guys have the kid say?

"i wish i was out there racing, those guys are riding well and I would love to be in the battle and mix it up with them, I feel like if I didnt get hurt I would be in a good position to try and win the championship for myself and suzuki"

something like that would work, giving the other riders respect while still letting everyone know you just as good, if not better, even though you are currently hurt/out of the series.

There's a difference between confident and cocky. It's one thing for a rider to say that they believe they can win the title, it's another to say "I'm so fast I will win every moto in the season". Not even RC was ever that presumptuous, and he had a right to be.

To me, confidence is believing in your own speed. Cockiness is underestimating the rest of the field. There's a difference in the two outlooks.

RC became MUCH more humble as his career progressed same with Stewart. They are learning how to word things so they can not be misinterpreted. Alessi is cocky but he backs it up very well. I would much rather see a guy say i am going for the win I am good enough and I can do it. Rather than the typical I want to be up front or on the box comments we usually hear.

You guys are hating and the kid is a fighter , and a competiitor!!!

All pro riders are cocky.

BUT they don't all circulate written (poorly) words that say that they are the best, they can ride 3 motos while everyone else passes out, I could have won every moto to finish the series, etc, etc....

"giving the other riders respect while still letting everyone know you just as good."

Bob Hannah - just like he would, right?

fucking clueless.

x2... better than watching those guys circulate the track while collecting their paychecks (at least that's the way it looks from the outside). It seems like no one pushes it until it is contract time anymore.

So you want a guy that says "I think I can run mid pack!"

"I strive for mediocrity."

"I only eat vanilla ice cream!"

"I only do my girl in missionary position!"

When guys do make comments about how well the other riders are doing people slam them for not being competitive. Alessi was the fastest guy after RV went down. Whether he had anything for Ryan or not he was at one point the fastest and he was consistent.

Dunno, I thought Stewart had matured after 06, but after some of his comments this year, I think he's just gotten worse.

How has Alessi backed himself up though? He's mediocre in supercross, and still hasn't won a motocross title. I hate to say it, but this is the 2nd MX title he's crashed out of. Granted, he wasn't going to win the title last year, but he still took himself out of the championship. The kid works hard, and I'm sure he'll eventually win that championship, but I don't think it will happen until he changes his attitude.

I think so.

After reading the part about his schedule being different, does that mean MXGP's, USMX only, or am I reading too deeply into his grammatical work of art?

Funny shit, yet true as the day is long.

I miss the Hannah, RJ, Bradshaw days when the top riders didn't have to worry about what they said in fear of being scrutinized on the Internet.

never said that there was anything wrong with someone believing in their self. 150lbs. of muscle kid should believe he can win, but when you have a rider such as RV that has made it his personal goal to make sure he doesnt win a thing, alessi has a big problem!
