A-kit for CRF & Suspension Swap Help

Would've posted in the tech but figured I'd get a better answer since this generates more traffic..

Anyway I'm able to get a good deal on a set of Showa A-kit off a 14' CRF 250. Wanting to know if anyone has transferred anything similar to a 18' 450? I know the shock won't work but figured the forks will. The clamps are 20mm offset I believe.

Also wondering if this kit would bolt up to a 06' CR 250 or if the stock 18' 450 forks will bolt up to the 2 stroke. Not sure if this would cause handling issues. Pretty sure the shock is useless for this too.

What I'm trying to decide is to pull the trigger on the kit forks and swap all the stuff around if it'll work. If everything will swap it'll be a lot easier going out and buying a new Honda.

You're going to be stuck with the shock, because it won't fit the new 450 or the 2stroke.
You could just send that to meLaughing

You'll need clamps or to bore your top clamp out but the forks will work.
Your stuck with that shock body though. The Showa a kit ones for the 17 are stupid money as they are all billet, they haven't done any cast production runs so a shock is 5k for a 17 crf450

Might have to bore the bottom clamp. It’s weird cause a set of 49s from a 17 will Work on the other bikes

@109 & @jaredkeller96

What do you guys mean about boring the clamps? The kit suspension comes with clamps. Maybe I made it sound a little confusing in my original post.

Also if anyone knows if the kit or stock 18 forks will bolt up to a 06 CR 250 it would be a lot of help.

I believe they mean to bore your 06 clamps for your 18 clamps to work?

Yea I think that's what they meant. I've called around a few places and figured out the kit will work on the 450. As far as the 2stroke it's a bit of a toss up trail and error kind of thing taking the whole 450 front end and switching it over.

Stock 18 CRF450 forks and clamps will bolt right up to your 06 CR. Just have to use a different brake bracket.

Showa 49mm forks are as close to A-Kit forks as you can get ... I think coating is cheaper than the used A-kit 14 'forks

Those production forks are not even close to the kit ones. The coatings wouldn't really serve a purpose on the stock ones.
