Pointless? I don't think in all of his 6 or so years in the 250f class that he has ever gone pointless.

Don't forget how pointless the Football season is gonna be this year if those idiots don't figure out what to do with 9 million dollars.

He is doing great but honestly, this is his 11th season on a small bike while guys like Wilson, Baggett, Barcia and Tomac are on their 2nd and 3rd years racing pro. Defintely the modern day Langston, staying in the Lites class way too long.

He started on the Vagani KTM team in 2001 with Ben Townley and Tanel Leok, both of those guys have been on 450s since 2005. Move up already. A lot of burnout NFL quarterbacks would look amazing still playing in college.

At the beginning of the year, many forgot to talk about Rattray, this year he's definitely making everyone sit up and take notice.

I like the guy but will never root for the PC team recruiting former world champs or long time vets to race against US freshman and sophomores.

Yes, it's hard to respect that, he needs to move up to the big boy class.

Rattray steadily gets better. I always think he waits a little late to make his move in the motos, but he seems to run the same pace throughout. The guy is plain tough as nails.

Spot on.

If I were a betting man, I'd put my money on him. He reminds me of Carmichael in how solid and consistent he is. Blake seems to have James Stewart syndrome (fast or crash), and Wilson is having consistency issues as well.

What kind of consistency issues is Wilson having? One 8th place moto finish after washing out on the first lap while leading on a muddy track is a consistency problem? It is only 4 points between Dean and Tyla, the rest of the class wishes they were that consistent.

Deans results
Hangtown 1-3
Freestone 1-3
Mt Morris 2-8
Budds Creek 1-3

He was due to move up to MX1 in the GP's in 2008 but then Mitch made him an offer he couldn't turn down.

He may be one of the older guys, and Im a little surprised he's still in the lites too, but put yourself in his shoes; you're being paid well to race on of the best lites bike and therefore have the greatest chance of winning an AMA title. They're the three most important factors for any racer and winning a championship will give him more bargaining power when it comes to moving up a class. Too many good riders move up and fade into obscurity because they don't get competitive rides.

if he wins the championship this year it will be interesting to see what he does. Does he move up to a 450 ride and take advantage of his success if its offered or does he stay another year and risk not repeating and get pigeon holed as a "lites" rider? almost reminds me of Mike Brown a bit. If he does stay down and can't repeat his success next season, at 28 it may be hard for him to then get a really good 450 ride not to mention he isnt that strong a SX rider.....Tough spot to be in but he surely is a great rider....

I cant see him staying in the lites another year, whether he wins the title or not. I would guess he an Mitch agreed this would be his last shot at it.

Weimer only signed one year w kawi so things could get interesting if he doesn't perform

TR wins the championship I'm sure kawi would want him

RV isn't going any where
Grant and Canard are signed for another year
Ktm maybe since Alessi's contract is up
Suzuki I can't see things changing

Should be interesting

That could be true. I just wonder what his prospects in the US are for a good 450 ride. He has not been bad at SX but not really a standout either. Townley showed it is tough for a top 450 guy that is not great at SX to find good (paying) ride. I wonder if his path could lead back to the GP's.

I thought Grant was on a 1-year deal with Honda. I'd be surprised if Honda signed him to 2-years, but I'm not sure. I'd guess they have first-refusal on other offers though.

You do realise Townley has a 250 SX title, beating guys like Dungey?

Not to mention that epic outdoor season.
