Officially announced today the team is what I, and almost everyone else, predicted.

MX1 Chad Reed
MX2 Matt Moss
MX3 Brett Metcalfe

Reedy is focussed on getting team Australia on the podium this year. That's a pretty solid team right there and I really hope Matt Moss can rise to the occasion and show his true potential. The kid is damn fast when he's healthy and keeps the rubber side down.

Go get 'em boys!

edited 16/8. Reedy is indeed racing MX1 and Metty's racing MX3. I pulled the info off an Aussie website who I won't name.

No doubt that's our best team. Definite podium potential, outside chance of winning the whole thing if luck goes our way!

Byrner is not allowed to ride the Lites bike. That and he hasnt ridden the smaller bike for umpteen years and has proven he is a much better open class rider anyways. Byrne would have been 4th choice on a 450 behind Marmont.

I'm glad this topic is being debated, because it means that Australia finally has a bit of depth. Mossy is and always has been faster than Tye on a lites bike, and he just won the aussie title. He's the best most deserving man for the job.

Go get em boys!!

Matt won the Lites championship in Australia this year.

I hope they finish on the podium, but obviously go USA!

Why is Reed MX3? Sandbagging there? Or do they really think Metcalfe is a better option? How many times has Metty beaten Reed this year, even after Reed's big get off? Very few. Anyways I do believe if they all 3 perform how they're capable of, they'll get podium and if things all fall the right way they'll win it all.

As much as Byrner has been a contender in the past, there's no way he's at the level of Reed or Metty this year, and he's too old to ride the MX2 class.

Tye has even said himself (I think) that he's too big for the 250f.

What difference does it make? They both ride 450's, and either way they'll have one of the Ryan's to deal with.

Agreed. Irrelevant who rides MX1 or MX3 really. Irrelevant post...

What difference does it make? Potentially a lot of positions. You can't just compare him to the US. Look at all the other countries that just have one good 450 rider and they're putting him at MX1. If Reed avoids them for 1 moto and rides against riders in MX3, then he may finish considerably ahead of what he would have if he rode MX1.

Fail. Burner's too old and Tye's too big.

Neither are as fast as Matt Moss either.

Actually I just checked - the official MA announcement doesn't say who's in MX1 or MX3.

One thing about these Moss boys both Matt and Jake, they can have there average rides and not look that flash, but when they bring their A game, they can match it with anyone. Remember when Jake got the fill in Kawi ride in 09, he was running up front. Matt is no different, SuperX in 09, he was untouchable.

I have a feeling we're going to see the real M Moss at the des nations, with a point to prove,

That confuses me, Tye has never beat Matt or Jake, any race anywhere and has never one a title, not even in Aus. Anyway Chad Metty and Matt are the team so you can either support Aus or not, lol.

reed riding mx 3 means he only gets a short break between moto's the tougher option in my opinion

Its about time Australia had some luck go there way for once, although if and when it does it will likely stifle Great Britains chances of getting on the podium!
8/15/2011 1:56am
That's okay, jamma. At least you guys can now claim to be the No. 1 Cricket des Nations team.

Solid lineup for this year. I still don't get why Reedy is running MX3 though?

Glad to see Moss in the team too, hopefully he brings his A game because when he does hes hauling ass.

I think we really need some luck on our side for year something, to say the least, we've been lacking for a while!

Exactly Greg.

And Tye will be the first person to put his hand up and say he's too big for a 250F (and a 350F for that matter) and that Matt deserves his spot.

Yep agreed! Matt Moss will be fast, combined with the fact most of the top ten MX2 GP guys not riding he should do really well.

Five or six strong teams this year, the three usual suspects with USA, Belgium and France, plus Australia, GB and Germany all lookng potential podium teams as well.
