I've been out to 3palms and Rio Bravo in the last month and there were TONS of smokers out, so it appears they are more popular now than 4 years ago. If you want to call that 'making a comeback' so be it....
It certainly appears that a good percentage of the weekend practice rider set is making the move back to them...
Check this out, bit mind bending.

There's more of them out there than there has been, but it's still dominated by 4 strokes. Seems like most of the converts are returning riders and those who have had the horrors of blowing up a 4 stroke and drew the line.
X2, LOL. One YZ250F, one CRF250. First one got a $2200.00 "oh well, shit happens", second one got the $2400.00 line drawn.
Per Capita, more 2T's are being sold...2010-12...by those that're producing them...for instance: Yamaha, KTM and even Husky...moved all their 2T's in the USA.
I realize this is Ubber-Painful for you Honda guys; but, there it is...
Besides, it's issues like this that're gonna make Husky/BMW, KTM...hell..."TM" advance their positions in the "Off-Road" segment while Japan's continues to shrink.
I'm jus' seein'...
