After 2 seasons of riding my 13 YZ250 I bought left over in April 2014, it's time for some TLC. I have a ton of parts in the mail currently waiting to come my way. Here's what I've got coming.

Cycra restyle kit OEM colors
New style white fork guards
GYTR chain slider
FMF 2.1 PowerCore silencer to replace my GYTR silencer
Dunlop MX3S tires
All new chassis bearings from All Balls
SunStar sprocket kit with gold MXR1 chain
The wheels are going to Dubya to get black Excel Takasago rims laced up
MotoSeat pleated seat cover in all blue colors
Suspension is at HDR getting revalved, resprung, and serviced

The bike already has the following.

Works Connection glide plate, radiator braces, caliper guard, and Elite clutch perch
Lightspeed pegs
GYTR by FMF pipe and silencer
GYTR 8.4 oz flywheel
VForce3 reeds
Samco blue radiator hoses
Galfer 270mm floating rotor and matching rear (thanks OCD)
Honda CRF450 caliper and master cylinder off a 2013 with Honda pads
Ride Engineering stainless lines front and rear
Hammerhead brake return spring and clevis
Various blue anodized bits here and there

The bike has 32 hours now. Motor still runs great and I'm gonna try and run it the rest of the year before doing a full rebuild next winter or maybe later this year if necessary. Haven't decided on what graphics to go with yet but I'm considering just getting the OE 2016 style from Decal Works. I also plan on giving it a thorough cleaning while everything is apart. Plan to get it started next weekend once everything arrives.

The bike was yellow for a while with a UFO restyle kit and Clarke gas tank, but I was ready for a change and my buddy recently got an 08 125 and wanted my plastic.

How it currently sits.

Update: It's done. I'm gonna take some better pics up in the next couple days.

I'm also planning on picking up a 2017 YZ250F here in the next two months. Pretty excited to have both in the garage.

Clean bike. I like it
Thanks. It's been a great bike so far. Really excited to get it all dialed in over the next couple weeks. Mainly looking forward to riding the new suspension setup.

It would have more time on it but I broke my ankle the second time I rode it when I shorted an uphill double. But I put a lot of time on it in 2016 and hope to ride even more this year.

There awesome bikes. I picked up my 2011 in the fall of 2013 and have slowly been building it. I love the YZ 2 strokes. Funny. I've been thinking of buying a new YZ250f also lol. Here's mine

Love the Yamaha of Troy graphics.

Every time I ride my buddies YZ250F I fall in love with it. Awesome machines.

Yeah there awesome bikes. They run good and handle even better. I try to stay off of them. My buddy has a 2015 and I'll ride it every so often. I'm just afraid I'll like it more than my smoker lol

I'm afraid when a 17 250F finds its way to my garage the smoker will be put on the back burner a lot. I still love the bike, I'm just faster on my friends four stroke.

But when the track is perfect and the weather is nice, the 2 stroke is just so much fun. Every other time, I prefer the 4 stroke.

Yeah I feel I'm faster on the 4 stroke as well but as far as the fun factor goes nothing beats a 2 stroke!

Awesome! looking forward to seeing this progress.

What do you think to the CRF front brake set up? I'm looking to do the same to my RMZ450 so some feedback would be great.

Also, why the switch to the FMF 2.1 Powercore Silencer? Is the current GYTR silencer a shorty?

The CRF caliper and master along with a 270mm rotor is an awesome front brake, especially on a bike as light as this. It also has a lot of modulation and doesn't act like an on/off switch. I played around with a couple different pads from Galfer, and EBC before going back to the stock Honda pads. To me they offered the best combination of stopping power and lever feel.

The reason for the silencer switch was mostly cosmetic. The 2.1 looks better in my opinion. It's also longer than the GYTR silencer, but I don't think it's a shorty, pretty sure it's just a Powercore 2. A few tests I've read implied the 2.1 was better in the midrange than the previous ones as well. Who knows? One of my riding buddies just got a 2017 YZ250 and I'm selling him the old one for $75 to recoup some of the money.

Test fitting a few parts. This new exhaust is huge compared to the old one.

Making some progress on the clean up.

Suspension back from Pete Payne at Heavy Duty Racing in Stafford, VA. Revalve, respring, new SKF seals.

Next up is cleaning the swingarm, airbox, and linkage parts. Then all new chsssis bearings.

That can't be on a YZ250!
If so why the hell!?

It is. I didn't realize how big the thing was until I opened the box. I'm hoping it performs well and is quieter than the old silencer.

Graphics are in from Decal MX. Went with the OE 2016 design. Sadly the number plate graphics are wrong but I have the correct ones coming soon.

Sweet ride man. If you don't mind? Could you post a pic of you wire harness (from the opposite side)? I think the manual is hard to follow there... Cool

More progress. Pretty much just waiting on my wheels and seat cover and it's finished. Gonna tackle the graphics soon too.

GYTR chain slider is very cool.

Nice slider, and you have Ti bolts as well?

Tnx for the pics. I thought they hided a lot of the ignition harness stuff in that hole seen in the pic, but I guess a lot goes between the radiators...

No Ti hardware. Just the stock stuff cleaned up real well with a rag and WD-40. I spent enough with this round of mods and parts. Haha

Yeah they kind of stuff the harness in there and zip tie it in place.

Graphics and seat cover are on. Just waiting on the wheels to come in and it's riding time.

Kinda botched the front number plate a bit. Has a few bubbles in it. Oops.

You did a very good job with the side plates. They look nicer
The radiator shrouds, tank, and side panels came out pretty well. The front number plate was the first thing I did and I made a few errors.

Oh well. It doesn't look bad, just could be better.
