First Look: Nexis 211 DX Neck Brace 22

There have been some interesting developments lately in the neck brace world, and here's the latest, the Nexis 211 DX. The wide, comfortable belt system that sits on top of your shoulders takes direct impact pressure away from your sternum and spine, they're doing some interesting things with testing, and it'll be made in the U.S.A. Geoff Patterson was involved in the initial push of the Leatt brace here in the U.S., and has undertaken the work on the Nexis brace. This one will be made in the U.S. (Click any image for a larger version.)

The Nexis 211 DX Brace. Yep, there's Omega design heritage in there, but there's also a new manufacturer, and plenty of design updates. The design of the brace offers an option that doesn't rest on the sternum and spine. The rear section of the brace folds forward, making the whole thing easy to pack in your gear bag.

The testing is an interesting part of what they're up to at Nexis, and they'll be posting test results on their site, www.nexiscorp.com. Among the thing they've learned by using ultra-high-speed cameras (which allows them to review in ultra-slow-motion) is how chin bars flex on various helmets when the helmet and brace contact each other.

Adjustability is a cool feature on the Nexis brace. Using the built-in adjustability, you can go from Extra-Small to Extra-Large (and everything in between) all with one brace. Suggested retail? $330.

Here's a peek at the adjustability built into the brace. With the design of the strap system, there's no padding required on the brace, which makes it easy to clean and dry. Also, N-Style is making the graphic kits and strap covers for Nexis.
