vetarider Started a new thread 1979 KX125 - Should I......?
1/27/2012 3:45pm I've got a chance to buy a 79 KX125. Complete and original bike except for a DG silencer. Seller's out of state so at the moment I can only go by his description and pictures. Supposedly in good mechanical shape.... Usual cosmetic stuff like bad plastic and the seat cover needs replacing. I don't know that much about old KX's...

vetarider Started a new thread 1974 Suzuki TM250 down the street
1/27/2012 1:04pm There's a 1974 Suzuki TM250 for sale locally. It's on Ebay but I can't get the link to post. The seller says it's 95% original and looks to be in great shape. What price range should the bike go for? I don't remember the 250's that much. Everyone knows the reputation of the 400. Was the 250 a good bike...

vetarider Started a new thread Bob Hannah Blvd
1/27/2012 2:35am I was on a business trip outside of Atlanta and, while trying to find a customers' address, I thought I saw a street sign that read "Bob Hannah Boulevard". Google maps lists a Bob Hannah Circle and Bob Hannah Drive. Anyway, I thought it was interesting to see a former MX stars name in ordinary, everyday life. Any other former...

vetarider Started a new thread 1983 Cagiva 250
1/26/2012 10:02am Any interest? http://charlotte.craigslist.org/mcy/1226849251.html The bike's just up the road from me. It's hard enough to find old Japanese MX bikes around here so this thing turning up in the back woods of NC caught my eye. Thought maybe someone on here might like a challenge.

vetarider Started a new thread Lake Sugar Tree program 1986
1/25/2012 8:10pm A few pages of interest from the Lake Sugar Tree program in 1986. I went in '86 & '87 but they must have changed the date later on because it always seemed to be held around the time I was studying for college exams. Never understood why they did that. If you right mouse click over the image and select...

vetarider Started a new thread EPA fines Pep Boys - Chinese bikes
1/25/2012 2:30pm I haven't been to a Pep Boys in years. Are they still selling these things? The article says 2004-2009 so maybe not. From Diesel Progress Online: Industry News Pep Boys Hit With Clean Air Fines May 10, 2010 Pep Boys, a national automotive aftermarket and service chain with annual sales of $1.9 billion, has agreed pay $5 million in civil...

vetarider Started a new thread '78 KX250 - What's it worth?
1/24/2012 10:43am I've got a thing for these old KX's. Beautiful bikes but they seem to be a pain to restore because of the scarcity of parts. http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/989299252.html It was on Craigslist in St. Louis and then re-listed in Houston.....hhmmm

vetarider Started a new thread MX Track around Gaffney, SC in 70's
1/23/2012 1:31pm Between 1970 & 1973 my uncle would take me to a MX track somewhere around the Gaffney, SC area. He claims we saw Tony D. and a few of the other MX stars of the day. Gary Bailey came to one of the races and did a riding show on a Bultaco. I vaguely remember watching some of the races...

vetarider Started a new thread Opinions - '77, '78, or '78 1/2 RM250
1/20/2012 4:10am When business gets out of the toilet (whenever that is) I'm going to resume my search for a '77, '78 or '78 1/2 RM250. I need some input on which of these years is the better choice for an occasional racer that's reliable and fun to ride. I have a '78 YZ250 and the power is all mid to upper...

vetarider Started a new thread Online copies of AMA magazine 1950 - 2007
1/15/2012 3:04pm Check it out. Online copies of the AMA magazine from the 1950's up to 2007. They're missing 1980 & 1981. I edited the first attempt at including the link which didn't turn out as planned. Just select any of the bold text below. Select the year, then month and select "contents" to view the magazine page by page. The Sept...

vetarider Added a reply to 1980 YZ250G 43mm fork conversion
9/18/2010 8:56am Using a set up from the 1981 YZ250/465 might be the cleanest way to go. I'm not sure if you would have any issues with the steering stem though. You could pick up a set of triple clamps cheap on Ebay to experiment with just in case. With the '81 set up you could use your existing front wheel and...

vetarider Added a reply to Cologne or Dusseldorf?
8/26/2010 5:55am The company I work for has an office just outside Cologne and I've been there a few times on business. I'm not sure about Dusseldorf but let's just say you can consider Cologne the San Fransisco of Germany...
vetarider Added a reply to just got this
8/2/2010 7:54am As CamP recommended, try Yamaha first for OEM parts. Still quite a few parts available. On the '79 models Yamaha moved the swing arm pivot closer to the countershaft to help eliminate thrown chains. A bad habit on the '78's. They also replaced the spring loaded chain tensioner with a stationary unit. Transmission ratios were changed between the '78 and...

6/7/2010 5:40am That's the one. The price has climbed above my budget though. Thanks for the info. Chris
vetarider Added a reply to Who is TFS.
6/4/2010 5:28am Back to simpler times.... a pic from TFS' old stomping grounds. Flying Wheels MX in Fort Rucker, Alabama. Circa 1980. I took the picture but I'm not sure who the rider is.
vetarider Added a reply to Who is TFS.
6/3/2010 7:52am Manley, I used to ride out at Flying Wheels as well. Didn't race back then but would bum a ride with my friends and practice out on the track. I'm sure you remember this jump on the back side of the track? I took this pic during a race in 1979 or 1980. I think I talked to you through...
