tailgunn Added a reply to 100% screwed me
2/11/2026 7:25am I do try to buy from the local dealers. In fact, right before Christmas I was headed to my locals for some stuff and they had both closed for good. One was a Honda dealer and the other was Kawi/Indian/Polaris; same owner. Both gone. Now I'm down to the Harley/Suzuki/CanAm and something else giant dealership and I think they are...

tailgunn Started a new thread 100% screwed me
2/7/2026 1:54pm I ordered some goodies right before the new year from 100%'s website and they never sent it. Their customer service is nonexistent; no one answers the phone or emails, and the chat bot gets you nowhere. I had to get PayPal to intervene and get my money back. Very disappointing.

9/1/2025 1:22pm I guess I'll track down one of those. Thanks.
tailgunn Started a new thread 2005 KTM 250 SXF spark plug socket size?
9/1/2025 9:21am I cannot find the right size spark plug socket for this thing. I have no idea if the PO even put in the correct plug, but nothing I have works. I have tried 14mm, 16mm, 18mm, 9/16, 5/8, 11/16. I have even tried regular sockets to just see if the size fits like 15mm, 17mm, and 3/4 won't even fit...

tailgunn Started a new thread Best repair manuals?
4/5/2022 10:08am I have an 05 KTM 250 SX-F and I would like to find a repair manual. Any brand considered better than others? Also, I would prefer a book. I don't really like using my laptop with filthy hands.

tailgunn Added a reply to 1972 G4TR- worth rescuing?
5/1/2015 2:47pm Good point. Quick search shows some NOS rotaries on ebay. I am quite concerned about the tank rust though; that it might be rusted through. Decent old tanks tend to be either few and far between or mucho pesos. Odds are I won't get it at this point.

5/1/2015 2:47pm This is for sale locally. Did a little snooping on the net, not a ton of info. Ebay has 4900 hits though, so it seems parts are around. He says its complete although I see the bars are bent. Not looking to resto, maybe just a usable trail bike for cheap? http://stlouis.craigslist.org/mcy/4997089660.html

5/1/2015 7:17am Yeah, I didn't catch that it's an aftermarket pipe. Sure is not factory according to what I can see. I don't necessarily have a bug for this particular bike, in fact, I had never even heard of it before this ad. I just happen to have a bug for anything with wheels and a motor.

4/30/2015 12:49pm I was thinking my 13 year old could ride it. He will be 5'8" by the end of the year probably. Think I might have a look at it.
tailgunn Added a reply to ID this old Kawi please
12/27/2014 8:51am I shouldn't buy it because I don't necessarily have room and I haven't finished my Elsinore yet. I am TRYING to finish a current project before I buy another one... but it's difficult. You all understand... Just waiting for the Elsie tank to come back from being coated, put the petcock back together and I hope it's done. Not a...

12/23/2014 8:03pm I have heard of the KE. My buddy owns a shop and some kid brought one in that he had been using for MX... didn't realize that wasn't it's intended purpose. The poor bike was wasted and the kid didn't understand why.

12/23/2014 6:11pm I am more of a trail rider anyway. $100 is what I offered them the first time... wasn't even as put together as it is now. That was before they mounted the shocks upside down.

12/23/2014 4:25pm That's ok travis- gave me a chance to appreciate your avatar.
I don't know much about old Kaws. Is it worth picking up and tinkering with? They have been trying to sell it since the summer at a closed down Schwinn dealer and the price has been steadily dropping. I told them they wouldn't get their original asking price.

12/19/2014 1:25pm I don't really have a dog in this fight, but 16 months is ridiculous. European sports & race-governing bodies of all kinds have historically been the bureaucratic equivalent of beached whales, and they generally cast a dim eye towards Americans. Ditch the FIM.

5/12/2014 12:52pm This is a whole new thing for me- 2-strokes and dirt bikes in general. Ordered a carb gasket kit over the weekend, gonna make sure it doesn't leak, then fire it up with the pod filter. Seems to be some very knowledgable Elsinore tuners on a couple of other sites, that know jetting. If we can't tune it like that...

5/12/2014 12:52pm A friend that owns a bike shop has a mid-80s LT125 quad and this old Elsinore sitting around, so we traded. Any clue what year this Elsie is? The tank and seat are laying elsewhere in the shop. Tank is small and metal with a vent tube.

5/8/2014 11:54am So I found a pod filter to clamp on since it has no air box- will I have to re-jet this thing? Also, it needs tires. Recommendations? Will just be doing trail riding; nothing serious.

5/2/2014 6:58am I think a lot of road racers started in MX. I did it the opposite. I am just now getting into dirt, mainly so I can teach my kids to ride. No one would let me near a bike when I was a kid even though I desperately wanted one. I wish I had tried the dirt a long time...
