That is a KD125. Probably about 1974-6 vintage.

Shocks are on upside down.

That's ok travis- gave me a chance to appreciate your avatar. Huh

I don't know much about old Kaws. Is it worth picking up and tinkering with? They have been trying to sell it since the summer at a closed down Schwinn dealer and the price has been steadily dropping. I told them they wouldn't get their original asking price.

Could be a fun project but I wouldn't pay any more that $100 even if it is complete as the ad states. KDs are trail bikes also. My first bike was a 79 KD 100 and I had fun on it but jumping it wasn't a pleasant experience. Smile

I am more of a trail rider anyway. $100 is what I offered them the first time... wasn't even as put together as it is now. That was before they mounted the shocks upside down. Silly

tailgunn - those are very torquey, rotary valve engines. Great for trail riding actually.

When I was younger, two brothers that I was friends with had a KD125 and KD175. I would beg them to swap me when we were out riding in the woods to trade off my CR125 "motocross racer" for time on their KD's. They each did. Once. Then said no way, that bike is a POS in the woods!

Much later in life, I bought a clapped out KE125 (on/off version) and rebuilt it. A really underrated bike.

I have heard of the KE. My buddy owns a shop and some kid brought one in that he had been using for MX... didn't realize that wasn't it's intended purpose. The poor bike was wasted and the kid didn't understand why.

Those KD125's share a lot of parts with the KX125's of that era. The bikes feel like tiny 80's, I modded my 76 KX125 with KL250 forks (1" longer) and 1" longer shocks. Made the bike more fun to ride.

I shouldn't buy it because I don't necessarily have room and I haven't finished my Elsinore yet. I am TRYING to finish a current project before I buy another one... but it's difficult. You all understand... Just waiting for the Elsie tank to come back from being coated, put the petcock back together and I hope it's done. Not a resto, just a resurrection. Oh, I forgot the brakes are non-existent too.
