That little area is called the transfer base. Usually it is blended to the cylinders transfer ports when you blue print an engine or when you do drastic changes to the transfer ports of the cylinder. Thanks for the reply. Thats the first place i always look. I have torn ebay up for weeks. I see no left hand /stator side crank case there...not one and have not for a while. If you do see a listing for a LEFT hand 2003-2005 please send me the link because they are not showing up for me.

One of the best things you can do is micropolish and cryo/heat treat all the internals. I have used it in most of my race bikes and a bunch of my customers engines.
