I think this is a hard question because so much of what you enjoy about a board is your experience, especially early on. This is a great board. I do think that it is less smart and clever in a fun way, so for me it was more enjoyable in the past, but that largely is because I was closer to more of the people who were the core of the board. That's a good reason to keep downvotes anonymous but you need to make thumbs up anonymous too because Vital is missing out on a ton of up votes from those who don't want to be identified when participating in controversial posts or opinions. If the thumbs up was anonymous you would see a lot more of them and a lot more positivity. But as it sits now the site is just promoting negativity.
