Great info. There's a lot of background details I didn't even know about and I was there all through the 70's. Thank you for posting this. One thing though, "Meyers Manx" was Bruce Meyers, who developed the Meyers Manx.

7/1/2026 11:42am Live in Newport Beach and raced everywhere in Socal during the best days of our lives! Also had a house in Corona, so yeah we were not far away. Corona had night races and of course OCIR was awesome on Friday nights too! 👍

Thanks for responding. Annoying thing is I saw it in a 'Funny Pictures' thread in a road racing forum a couple of months back and neglected to copy it then. Went back recently and scanned all 2300+ pages of the thread with no luck. I think whoever posted it used a link to a hosting site instead of just dropping it into a post. This was a photo taken of me at Gorman on one of my 1977 Suzuki Rm 125s This jump was SICK, it was like the Olympic Ski jumpers, about a 100 yard hill-climb 6th gear tapped and there was literally no lip, you would just fly down the other side like 5 feet off the ground but travel well...

My buddies and I used to go camp out at El Mirage every now and then. Loved the bonfire wars...lighting pucker bushes on fire with race gas! Went to Gorman a few times with my Pops.

Someone around here probably has better memory than me about when Escape Country (known as Racing World when it closed) closed down. There was a kid on my street who's family was involved in the ownership of it (He was a Robinson, of Robinson Ranch). I had a chance to ride there after it had closed down.
