My first race was at Big Oak MX in north TX, not too far from where Oak Hill MX is now. It was 1975 and I was 19 years old on a KX400 in the open intermediate class. I finished 2nd but there were only 4 riders in the class.

Remember the "cross-up" or "clicker"? And jumps didn't have landing ramps. Spain had three companies making MX bikes. This is me on my OSSA. Note the Ellie Taylor prescription goggles, Iron Jaw face guard bolted to a Bell R/T helmet and no gloves. The round sticker on the number plate is from the GNC race at the Astrodome.
