Picked up a low hour 2017 YZ250 and decided since it was nearly brand new.... It needed to look new. Found out partzilla had the cheapest OEM parts for this and got everything (minus plastics and graphics) for about 800. It's still a work in progress, but it'll be little things from here moving forward.

In short, you need these parts from the 22/23 model:

Tank, complete seat, subframe, airbox (get the flap thing too) and complete plastics kit. There are a few special nuts you will need but I think those were only the ones that hold on the side plates. Just buy the major OEM parts then get a YZ bolt kit (I found a good one on Amazon for $60) and put it together. It took me about an hour or so to swap everything over. 

Little tip. Just sell your old OEM parts. By the time I got rid of the old OEM stuff, I think the conversion cost about $350 or so (not including graphics).

If you ever ride around the SA/Austin area tracks, you might see it in person.

Thank you!  I’m thinking of doing this to either my 125 or my 250.  I used to frequent Spoaks and Murphy’s when I lived in Midland, but I moved back to where I grew up in Pennsylvania.  I really appreciate a unique project and yours redefines that!  I’ll let you know what I end up doing!
