$20 shipping for a base gasket WTF

I used to like ordering parts online. Not anymore. After selecting parts for a top end rebuild (base gasket & two o-rings for the head) I was hit with ridiculous shipping charges on three different websites. ($20 to send three very lightweight , envelope- ready parts)

I wish I had a Suzuki dealer nearby.. the closest is 30 minutes away, not feasable for driving to on lunch break.

Other than "parts of yamaha" which is the same as "suzukipartshouse" among others, where do you guys like to order OEM parts online? Have great service for my KTM with ktm Parts world in Rome, GA. Wish they also sold Suzuki.

Try midwest action cycle. They are out of Lake Geneva WI. They've got OEM parts online. Just ordered some Steel braided brake lines, and some other misc. parts and shipping was $12. I do live pretty close though, not sure what the freight charge to GA would be.

Motosport is good, they ship out of I think georgia, and shipping isn't ever more than 8

Yep, Guy is a good guy (no pun).. My nephew has been putting in quite a few laps on their track in Fly lately, when it isn't flooded. Thats about the only place actually running without cancelling due to the weather lately.

I would love to see the reaction of the riders in the 70s if a race was cancelled due to heavy rain. It's getting sad around here.

Yea i live like 30 minutes from Fly mx and 15 minutes from mx213, I probably know who you nephew is. I go their alot LOL! This rain sucks dude, frustrating now.

you know who is the worst for service. ktm hutt. twice ive called an ordered parts. they said they had them in stock and would ship them out that day. 5 days later i get a confirmation email that they just sent them out. wtf

I just lost money on an ebay sale...

I quoted $6.95 to ship (I receive between 50-60% UPS discounts) to ship an item that weighed 0.38 pounds.

It came back at MY cost of $9.25. Published rate is $13.50.

As stated, previously...

Most good places have "Free Shipping on Orders over $100"...

So, if ya REALLY don't wanna pay for shipping...go order a few things that you're gonna need soon...

Air Filter, Oil Flter, Grips, Cable(s), Chain, Plastic, Silencer Packing Kit...etc.

Then...you've saved $9 over your "Best Case Scenario".

I'm jus' sayin'...

A lot of you may not realize how much the retail is on UPS shipping. If you have a rural address (most of my customers do), retail shipping charges for a 1 lb package UPS Ground is around $13 plus a pickup charge.

Granted, many places get negotiated rates based on volume which are much lower, and if you live in a metro area the retail charge for the same package may only be $5.

But shipping isn't cheap. And neither are shipping boxes and packing material.

Oh, and order some clutch and valve springs.

Why is it that everyone seems to NOT remember that srpings wear out...?

I am just hazarding a guess that if you ordered just gasket, by itself itself,it's going cost to a bit more than normal to get it there as flat and normal than a parcel that is thrown around?

I believe Motosport ships out of Tenn (Memphis?) if memory serves, I spoke with them once on that. It's hindsight, but for a gasket you could have gone USPS. That would have been cheap. Of course I'm sure you didn't get a quote on shipping first, because likely you wouldn't have gone that route.
