..does just about every kickass MX vid nowadays have to be ruined by some shity ass music? Dizzy

am i just getting old? even though i dont exactly fully enjoy the sound of 4 strokes compared to the beautiful sound of a 2 stroke at full song, i always want to hear where and when the rider is on and off the throttle, just adds so much more to the viewing experience. Music adds NOTHING.

Just venting...

The rap/hip-hop music is what ruins it for me.
I don't mind the harder tunes being mixed in with some bike sounds.

As long as they play punk behind the riding, Im cool with it. But please no young jeezy or whatever. I like it when you can still hear the bikes over the sound of the musak.

The music they put over the latest round of the Aussie nationals was good but , yeah, generally I'd rather hear 10, 000 sets of nails down a chalkboard than the utter shite you get on 99% of moto vids.

Yep, anything other than punk just doesn't seem to go to good with the videos........especially rap....booooooo. All the OG videos like the first few Crusty's and MotoXXX's had awesome soundtracks. The One the Pipe videos are pretty good too though with the metal they have.

Ok- what about slo-mo in the video?
Pick one:
A) Music
2) Silence
C) Slowed down 4 stroke bike that sounds worse than the real time sound of the bike.

If you answered "no slo-mo", that is not going to happen!

Gotta agree with ya Scottie, don't need any tunes drowning out the motor. IMO

Yep most of the music is beyond horrible plus it usually totally dominates the entire video. If they would fade it in and out and give a good mix of the bike followed up with some tunes it seems they could really reach a good happy medium. But only if the music improved.....

just dub in 2 stroke sounds... or have ping motor mouth it.

There is nothing like watching one of the greats clear a big triple and realize they coasted it. I like the sounds for the exact same reason ocscottie.

They'd have to actually have real editing software to do that. Much simpler to click "insert music" over the whole video.

That comatose rap, hip hop, gangsta what ever you call it crap doesn't go with MX at all.

There is moderm music that goes great with racing and riding. I saw a surf vid recently that had the backing of The Eagles of Death Metal and QOTSA that was great, and I'm pushing 50.

ya Clint, i am all over those!

I was just looking through our vid section and there was a really cool vid...that was just flat ruined by shitty ass music. Like i said above, i just love being able to hear the riders throttle control, especially when its just one rider on the track, like for instance the vids of the pros at their test tracks.

Totally agree.

At least let us hear the bikes somewhat if you are going to dub in the crappy rappy, people!

Oh and another really cool vid was the original clip of Pourcel at his practice track, where it was just one camera angle and no music or editing, it really makes you feel like you are standing on the side of the track watching. I also dig those.

This one:

Now this is what I like.........

When you have a little bit of music a little bit of engine noise and then cut into the interviews interspersed over the shots of the riding....nice.

Personally I prefer the hard rock stuff over the hip hop but that is just cause I'm old and uncool now.....lol.

Speaking of motor sounds...If you guys want to watch something fully mind blowing incredible, check out the F1 stream that Speed does on their website of practice sessions 1 and 3. there is no commentating, just pure bliss of the F1 cars at full song. There are not enough words to explain how rad it is!

You can check it out tonight at 8pm PST 11pm EST HERE

The sound is so incredible, i have a pretty bitchen Logitech 5.1 surround system on my PC, and the F1 cars are pure mind numbing awesomeness!

...and yes i have had to many Red Bulls today Silly

I just started digging into my collection of VCR tapes and transferring them to DVD.
Got them all out and started categorizing them in groups - Moto, SX, Amateur, Family and so on.
After tallying them up I have over 20,000 hrs of taped moto/SX from the early 80's to 2001. Then I broke down and bought a DVD player.Smile

Now I need to figure out how to load them on Vitals Video section to share with you guys.

Lotta Carlsbad stuff.

Music adds a completely new artistic element to the video. Granted, a lot of videos are made with "top 40" songs with no thought put in at all, which sucks. But automatically hating a video because it uses a hip hop song is grossly impetuous. Plenty of videos use the song to work in harmony with the filming to create a tone to the video that could not be accomplished with film alone. Try to empathize with the filmer and see what he's going for before you "sub in 2 stroke sounds" (gay).

Surf music is cool with MX vids, remember the Steel roots film where they were on the beach. MX vids need more Link Wray and Satans Pilgrims.

I dont think you are getting old ocscottie, I really do think the kids today have no taste in music. or clothes for that matter. or hair for that matter. we would have never rocked those beatles cuts back in the 90's. GAY. even justin beiber has moved on and got it cut. Generation Y gets NO style points.

Organ Donors had a good soundtrack - I always remember the last song on the DVD of Diamond or Cinqmars, or whoever it was railing sand drifts in the Dunes was an especially haunting track.
