Throttle Jockey maybe. Willy Musgrave swears by his 01 CR.

I also had an 01 CR 250. It was a great bike, although jetting was awful in stock form, had to cut some material off the slide to really get it running right. My bike eventually had Eric Gorr porting, and front and back Tom Morgan Racing suspension. I wish I had been able to keep that bike. It would be very interesting to see how that bike would run against my 09 KTM 300XC.

Sounds like we both had the same jetting problem.

I raced the 01 Cr 250 and is still one of the best all around bikes i have ever riden.

We used the carb from I believe a 2000 model and it made all the difference. I had the same jetting issues.

in 2001 I believe they switched to a Mikuni carb which was tough to get sorted out.

In 2000 they were still using these... which were real nice. (Air Strikers)



Hence... my Striker joke... oh well...

Dude, why bother replying? You're right about the plastic not fitting, but you're full of shit on everything else. The rim size is not different. That 'piece of crap' was an awesome bike, still would be today.

Post some pics of that thing!

And the carb, you can get it to work but it's much easier to just bolt on a Keihin PWK38AS.

The 01 & 03 are both better than the 02 yz250 I had.
Put the 01 Motor in the 03 Frame!!!!

Its been a project I've been planning to do. I have an 01 with the motor worked over by Pro-action. They fixed the mid range and I had to work on the jetting to get it just right but i love mine. I had a 05 450 but when it came time to sell one I sold the 4 stroke. That 250 motor can out pull the 450. The 450 made me lazy anyways. started to feel like I forgot how to ride. The 2 banger fixed that.
