Was anyone docked for the way they cut across the track ( after getting pushed thru the Tuff Blocks ) on the 450 start?

I don't recall the announcing crew ever clearing that up during the brodcast and haven't seen it mentioned in the race reports.

i noticed/wondered the same thing. it seemed like the riders that popped through the tough blocks (and subsequently, cut the corner) seemed confused as to whether they should wait, or just give'r.... And they just gave'r.

They both got bad finishes so it doesn't really matter. Alessi had a mechanical DNF and Stroupe crashed out.

Guy B mentioned elsewhere that they were docked a lap. But then the thread disappeared. What else were they supposed to do? Had they turned around and re entered the first turn, they would have had to go backwards on the course and that's a whole other penalty in itself. I haven't seen anyone blame it on a stupid track design yet. How many times have racers blown through the first corner in the history of SX? So how could it be smart to route the track right behind it in that manner???

Karma. It was a bad first turn design though. Andrew Short did it the right way, and he came away with a decent finish.

Pretty sure Stroupe/Alessi docked a lap, but they both DNF'd anyway.

if u watch video wey was on totally opposite side...he wasn't involved in the cut (was stroupe). Short was the one who mentioned Wey in interview but i think he meant Stroupe (both look similar).

if there had not been a delay at turn two, it wouldn't have been a problem, and both were looking over their shoulder, almost embarrassed at having to wait so long to take up their rightful place. It was like waiting for the old light at the intersection; somewhere along the line you have to say, sod it. As to turning round, the rule that you had to rejoin the track at the same place was struck off years ago, and how often do you see people missing out entire rhythm sections nowadays ? In the end though, just a dumb first turn. Chicanes suck anywhere on the track.

I think the spirit of the rule is that you aren't supposed to gain any advantage from the point you re-enter. Even though it may not have been their choice to cut thru to the other lane I would think you would have to wait for at least a good portion of the pack to go by before re-entering the track. Hopefully that would demonstrate you are in the spirit of the rule w/o having to pull back on in dead last. Bad luck to have that happen but otherwise someone could argue you took advantage of the situation to gain positions.

In any event, I really thought the announcers should have covered it more. And the race reports I've read pretty much ignored it as well.

What about what Reed did when he went down in the whoops?
Didn't he ride the wrong way on the track to get set back up for the rest of the whoops?
