That was floating around as an uncomfirmed rumor, it would have been cool if you'd posted it that way.

We'll have to wait for word from the team.

Who is your good source? IF he broke his ass like you said you wouldn't think he would be sitting down on the side of the track like matthes said he was after he crashed.

And with a broken femur? The dude wouldn't have been able to move. They said he crawled off the track. You can't do that with a broken femur.

One good leg and two arms are plenty to drag yourself off the track. Hope a rumor is all it is though.

i just broke my femur 4 weeks ago and it broke at the neck of the femur, where it joins into the hip socket. if he has done his femur and hip he WOULD NOT have riggled off the track like they said he would have laid in the one spot, the pain involved is horrendous

But he could pull the fastest lap time in Daytona with a concussion, so anything is possible.

This sucks. No matter what the specifics of it, I think it's safe to say he is injured and probably out for at least one race. Dang!

This sucks not just because I was really looking forward to seeing a run for the championship between him and RV, but because I hate to see him get hurt yet again!!! The dude has had a really hard fought season thus far and certainly deserves to be out there.

This really deflates the joy of watching the season get so intense and interesting.

If he did that with a broken femur, he is even more of a badass than already thought. The pain from a femur break is almost unimaginable.

As a couple of people had said already, if he had broke his femur or pelvis there is no way he would have crawled off the track.

if it is a femur (which i doubt highly cause the pain would be to much to move himself off the track) that could spell the end of his few outdoors appearences aswell.

I broke my tailbone when I was 19. Next weekend brought my donut (to sit on) to a strip club. Ended up getting a lap dance while sitting on my donut. Her grinding popped my donut.... I had to tell her to stop, she thought something else happened. lol I was like nah, I broke my ass and my donut popped! She thought it was so cute and ended up giving me special treatment! True story. This was relivant somehow I thought. lol Maybe not

This is not true at all. When i broke my tib two years ago, my doctor told me of a guy who was there yesterday who fell off a horse on his farm. He and his buddy tied it together with rope, and he managed to get himself to the ER. When they did an x ray, it was a complete break of the femur, and quickly went in for surgery. SO to say he wouldnt be able to crawl, is not completely accurate

Depends.

I have seen two people break their femur and get off the track.

One was Brad Strunk, who broke his femur at Hole shot Hills. He ran to his bike, picked his bike up, then dropped his bike, and walked off the track before sitting down.

Then, I saw Richard Robinson at Dirt Country break his femur, (a compound fracture), pick his bike back up and ride to the medics, all the while his bone was poking through his skin.

Reedy finished a race back in Aus when he was 16 or 17 with a broken femur. it was outdoors and i think he got a spectator to start the bike for him.
Then his dad drove 10 hours home to take him to his local hospital with Chad trying to manage the pain in the back of the van all because his dad needed to go to work the next day.

I think James could have crawled off the track.

That said, i hope James is ok.

I would agree that we can't sit here and claim what he could or couldn't do in the event of a certain rumored injury. I've seen guys in races go into shock and be unaware of where they are, and I've seen guys drag themselves off the track while grabbing the leg that is pointing in the wrong direction alongside them. Mathes saying he slithered/crawled doesn't sound too promising but I hope it isn't as serious as this rumor says.

hehe not quite Geneffy. I was there that day. He hit a false neutral on the sand whoops heading to the finish and swapped out. Broke his tib/fib. He got up and tried to get a spectator to start the bike for him but then the pain set in so it was over.
